CLASS OF 70 DEDICATES TAPORAPIAN TO MR. WILSON Youx first year as principal was certainly a hard one. And we as Seniors didn ' t make it any easier for you. In the fall of the year, we presented you with a list of Senior privileges that we wished to have. With all your problems and hardships, you kindly took the time for your busy schedule to consider this list. We held a grudge for a while because we felt you gave us an empty bag, but most of us finally realized the why in your reasoning and most importantly that you hadn ' t just thrown them away, which you surely could have; but you studied them carefully. We complained right much, too -- blindly not seeing that for every- thing you did there was a valid purpose behing your motive. And after all the nightmares we gave you, you still consented to chaperon us on our trip to New York. What a fabulous chaperon we found you to be! And so, we at the last graduating class of Tappahannock High School, the class of 1970, proudly dedicate this annual to the man we feel should deserve some credit and recognition for making the last year one of the best, Mr. Wayne Flip Wilson. Mr. Wilson happily displays his white tie given to him by the SC A. 6

rmi This year ' s SC A took part in many activities. The SCA sponsored Homecoming which turned out to be the best yet. It also sponsored Rat Week and White Christ- mas. Because the newly formed Photography Club was in financial need, the SCA helped sponsor a movie and gave all proceeds to the Photography Club. During the summer of 69, Keith Carpenter, SCA Pre- sident, Tommy Blackwell, District Chairman, and Mrs. Durham, SCA sponsor attended the SCA Summer Workshop where they gained valuable information in producing an effective SCA. The SCA Executive Committee was very proud to be able to take part in solving problems for the new high school to be formed as they worked with the SCA Execu- tive Committee from Essex County High School. 8
