Powder blue and white Class Motto . .Character is the Cornerstone of Success In September of 1953 Tama High School opened its doors to sixty-tvvo bright and shining faces. After cleaning off the lipstick and perfume from initiation we began our four years of participation in extra-curricular activities. Our first party was given in April and its theme was King Neptune's Court . As sophomores we became noted for our artistic ability. Toledo's Grave Mistake , the class Homecoming float, won first prize. Old Man Winter's Hideaway was the colorful theme for our party. As iuniors we were voted Loud Moufhs of T.H.S. . Our Float, Rock Around Brooklyn again won first prize. Our class play, We Shook the Family Tree, proved to be a lot of fun. Christmas in the Air was our party theme. On May 9, the juniors and seniors stepped into Candyland and danced to the music of Del Clayton at one of the best attended proms in T. H.S. history. As seniors we went through the process of initiation of freshmen, senior party, our class play, Professor, How Could You , Skip Day, and we were guests of the juniors at a beautifully decorated prom. Many of our classmates have proven themselves in music, speech, and athletic activities. For these things we hope the Senior Class of 1957 will long be remembered. Among the most important of their ac- tivities were the three concerts and the eight home basketball games at which the band played to support the team. Even though a large part of our band consists of junior high students, they have come a long way since the beginning of the year and have contributed to our success. The members participated in the Tama County Band Festival at Toledo along with the other bands of the county. At contest this year the band received a divi- sion lll rating.
