The sponsor, Miss Lucie Stevens, supervises all activities and the club has progressed during the year. Several students have rnade their fifty-words-a-rninute crosses during the year and a few have written as high as 129 words a rninute in shorthand. All in all, we have had a most successful year. KAY McKAY CLUB The Kay McKay Club was organized four years ago for freshrnan and sophornore girls and tcr any new upperclass girls who were interested in l-lornenialqing. lt provides a chance for the underclassnien to get into some worthwhile club which will give theni an opportunity to rnake desirable friends and develop character. The club nieets once a rnonth and, after the business nieeting, a social hour is held. Dur- ing the year it has sponsored a penny Supper and has sent representatives to College Hotte- rnaking Conferences and Veishea. 17

GIRLS' GLEE CLUB The Girls' Cflee Club had a very successful year under the direction oi Miss Margaret She-riixazi. The large nurnber ot candidates for rnernbership in the Club :nade the inatchiiig ci voices ?CSSlClQ. Hansel and Gretelf' an operetta, was presented early in the school year. The Club sang at a nuznber ot local functions, participated in the Subdistrict Music Contest at Waterloo, took part in the broadcast proaram over KSIB at Marshalltown, and rnade its last appearance at the Conirnencernent Exercises. MIXED CHORUS The Mixed Chorus was oraanized in order that a larqer aroup ot those musically inclined rniaht be able to coznpete in the Music Contest than would have been able to do so otherwise. The Chorus was directed by H. T. Hurley.
