' in 'ggi'-Q' PREFACE Creating a yearbook involves many things: The well-known' feeling of panic as deadlines approach, the powerful persuasion required to get stu ents to turn in snapshots, budget difficulties, staff meetings where everyone would rather talk or do class assignments than work, fand I was no exceptionlj my trying to inspire our advertising managers in their difficult task of getting business people to part with their money, and many others. We have tried, by incorporating road signs as our theme, to high- light this year at Takoma Academy. As with any highway, life at T. A. has its rules, regulations, boundaries, and occasional bumps. The de- piction of this is the sum total of what a yearbook really is. Although at times the staff has been divided on opinions, we all worked with the same goal in mind, and that is to create a yearbook that will truly represent T. A. and what it stands for. We hope that this yearbook wil , in years to come, relive memories for you. It was not without problems that this book was published, and it is not without pride that we present to you the finished product, the Takoman, 1960. One of their main jobs has been to sponsor Saturday night programs, and whenever the Council plans a program, the student body can be assured of a highly entertaining evening. The Council also sponsors Courtesy Week, Color Days, basketball leagues, clothing drives, Thanksgiving baskets, and re- ligious activities. One of the highlights of the year at T.A. was the Student Council- sponsored amateur program. The Council plans to use the money from this benefit to light up the schools name on the building.
