senior CLASS HISTORY Ninety-seven bewildered Freshman entered Tahoma in 1959. The traditional initiation had been eliminated, so in October we held a Halloween dance for the seniors, just to let them know we realized who was boss. This year we attended our first formal dance, the Homecoming, and, for this year— our first try at high school life, we were led by president, Stephanie Young. Coming back as juniors we numbered only 85. The year started off right when we won $40 for having the most parents attending P.T.A. We donated it towards the lighted bulletin board fund. Some of the more talented juniors tried their hand at the all - school play, Rest Assured. We may have been lacking in brain, but at the junior-senior football game we showed we had brawn by defeating the seniors 7-6. Rusty Holder was our president. The class party was held at Lake Meridian. As sophomores we numbered 88 and Suzy Johnson was elected president. Our main money-making project was selling blue and gold Tahoma pens with the basketball schedule on them. Also we participated in the carnival held in the old gym. Although it was fun, we didn't bring in too much money. Our booth, a balloon shave, made 79 cents. We topped off the year with a class party at Lake Sammamish. A few years older and perhaps a little wiser, we are now 67 mighty Seniors. Dennis Shimono was elected president and moneymaking projects included a car-wash, bake sale, and dance. Our play Finders Creepers was a tremendous success and added $240 to our treasury. Three of the most successful dances were held this year: the Girls' Club Tolo, Homecoming, and the Junior-Senior Prom. Senior Week and Baccalaureate have been eliminated but we still have our cruise, this year a night trip on the Silver Swan, and the all-night party planned by our parents. It's been a long haul, but we finally made it. Next in store will be college, jobs, marriage, the services, and maybe a few class reunions. By D'Ann Dufenhorst
