Never in the history of mankind has the need been greater for a more highly-trained society. For your own personal welfare and success in life you must seek additional education. The percentage of non-ski lied labor hired by the Boeing Airplane Company has been sharply reduced in the last four years. Our very survival as a nation hangs in the balance. I challenge the students of Tahoma High School to accept their responsibility — train yourself to the utmost of your own capacity — do your part in helping to preserve our democratic way of life and to insure a world of peace for tomorrow. LYMAN D. STAMPER Three key words appear in the slogan, Education in CHARACTER, HEALTH, and MIND which has been on your report cards the past two years. The degree to which you have responded to our efforts, the efforts of your parents, and the desirable influences of the community, to help you develop to the fullest in CHARACTER, HEALTH, and MIND, will determine your success or failure. I would emphasize, however, that you should not look upon this development as being finished just because your public schooling is finished. While the mold may be pretty well set, there is one aspect of your character which can be brought into play to overcome even the most glaring deficiencies and help you over the rough spots—it is your public-minded, humanitarian attitude of SERVICE to mankind. If it can always be said of you that, Things are a little better because you passed our way your success and happiness will be assured. I hope that will apply to each of you.
