The spirit stirred up hy the dinner rally hetore the Visalia game on 04'- toher 27 helped the Cougars to win with a score ot 23-0. fln the next Friday, our spirits werentt up to par and we lost the conterence champion- ship to Portervitte. The Armistice Day game re- sulted in a deteat ot 20-0 due to an out-weighed team--hut such are sports. The game was in the atternoon so we carried out the holiday spirit that night with a party. The last game ot course was with our big rival-Batcersltietd. The Rene- gades were a strong team, hut our team tought the hardest hattte ot the season to hold the score down to 0f0. t don't thintc t have ever heen quite so excited at a toothatt game. The puhlic was invited at 31.00 a plate. hut the loot- hall team and their girls were the honored guests. Joe was chosen as one ol: the outstanding players. so we got to sit at the head tahle. Xve were served a several course dinner including roast turkey and many delicious things. Alter dinner iVlr. Hannah, Dean Howes. and Frank Dickson spolie. There was a slight lull and Fir. Lee, the new Cougar coach, gave a grand talk and presented the awards lor the most outstanding player chosen hy the team to he Gwen lvlaupin, and the in- spiration award which went to Dick Ciarrett. Feeling in good spirits we went to the midnight show which Climaxed a grand evening. They say that silence is more impressive than words P-even than yells. Perhaps that is the secret ol the suc- cess ol our new song which comhines a series ol hand passes that would hallle a prestidigitator with intervals oi rhythmic silences. These ahrupt silences always catch me hy surprise. and I lind myself singing hlisslully away while everyone else maintains a deathly stillness. -until Joe grunts at me disgustedly and l giggle with emharrassmenl.
