bang From lang uage clubs to athletic clubs have them all here at school The meeting of the French Club ordrnarrly held on 'Vlonday took place on Tuesday February 13 trrst period It was an organrza tron meeting held rn room 219 All French students are rnvrted to at tend all meetings Mrss Luede mann our popular French teacher rs the clubs sponsor Vrce president Roger Ginger as sumed the presidents place rn the German Club The former presi dent had transferred to another school Club prns have arrived and shall be issued at the next meeting The German Club meets the last Frrday ot every month and has gifted Dr Buchwalter as rts faculty sponsor Spanish Students Plan Ahead Pleasant Mrs Andrews keeps her students occupied rn class with a Pan American Srngrng Club which they all enjoy Mrss Johnson an other one of our well lrked Spanish teachers has an Espanola Club which meets in class wrth all stu dents partrcrpatrng '1 Wernstems Wizards Tafts Business Guild under the capable management of Mr Wern stern meets ev ery second Friday rn room 209 The next meeting wrll occur February 23 During this meetrng officers wrll be elected Senior Grrls Plan Semesters Work The Senior Grrls headed by ver satrle Miss Rogers had its frrst meeting of this semester on Febru ary 14 At that trme the 4A girls entertained the elrgrble 4Bs The club officers wrll be chosen at the second meeting The Junror Grrls wrll choose their officers during their frrst meetrng on the thrrd Wednesday of the month Students wrll be asked to volunteer to serve on the re freshment and entertainment com mrttees Miss Mueller Tafts well known dean of girls rs the guiding lrght of this club Our popular Physrcal Ed teacher Mr Nlrller as rn past years wrll agarn drrect the Safety Council Presrdent James Jacobsen gave Nlr Hoefer a check to be used for the furnishing of the Social Room Heretofore all graduating classes had made rt more or less a custom to purchase some necessity desrr ed by the school or else to grve a check for some specrfred artrclc to be purchased The green rug rn Mr Hoefer s office the trophy case rn the Art Room the Venetian blinds rn room 114 the loudspeaker system rn the audrtorrum the radio recording machine for the public speaking classes and the hangrngs for the stage are brrt a fevv of the gifts given by Taft graduates This year however because of the war and the drffrculty rn get ting something worth wlrrle and also because of the doubt as to what would be needed for Tatt,s Socral Room the Seniors after much discussion decided to simply receive honors for the grand show ing they made when 13 students were awarded scholarships to var rous colleges and unrversrtres By earning these scholarships the fol lowing students are one step nearer to the realization ot their ambr trons Danrcl Schneider rs attending lxorthwesterrr Unrversrty through its Chick Ev rns Scholarship Dan also received S300 per year from the Cook Fund to per year from the Look lfund to North Central Lollege a 15100 KIWHHIS Club award and a 550 M P Hernze award thomas Craft tr winner rn a drf frcult competitive examination has been attending Purdue University since the beginning of this year he was also awarded S516 per year from the Cook Fund to Purdue Unrversrty Rudolph Kuper was a ded S300 per year from the Co d to Northwestern Unrversr y Nlargery Brgler received Kiwanis Club award and a 50 'NI P Hernze award Nlary Dalton valedrctoryn of t e January 45 class was awarded a scholarship to Purdue Unrver rty Presrdent of the classf' James Jacobsen won a scholarship t Purdue University through a com petrtrve examrnatron S e Honorary Scholarships.
