We Prepare To Leave There is one word that sums up exactly what the Senior Class thought about all year long . . . Graduation. This far-away dream became a little more real when, in August, we took our seats in the Senior Lounge to argue about the Senior trip, prom and other essential activities. Prom was set for May 8th at the Bon Homme Richard with Sunny Days Revue providing the music, Disney World in Florida was the decided destination for the Senior Trip. Class colors, flower, song and motto were also chosen. The bicentennial colors of red, white and blue were picked and the class flower would be an orange rose. Stairway To Heaven” was the official song with The Theme From Mahogany” an unofficial first. The class motto stated the following, We hold the idea of today that will be the history of tomorrow” written by Peggy Thomberry. Seniors did join together to work on the Homecoming float, first at Kathy Redhair’s house, then at Robin Collins. In March, the class sponsored a slave sale” in which many seniors were auctioned off and, as many discovered, were forced to perform menial tasks. Seniors participated in many extra-curricular activities during the year and, in general, kept the name of the Class of ’76 alive as that of the best class in the school.
