if 5 e Student Store The nucleus of all student activities in the Syosset High School was the General Organization. Formerly known as the Student Council, it expanded its goals by issuing membership subscriptions, a move which enabled it to become a self-supporting organization. News coverage of activities in Syosset High School has been provided ever since the school's inception. Pub- lications of various sizes and printing styles preceded the NEWSPAPER Lifebeat of the 5chool. The zenith of news reporting was reached with the advent of THE PULSE. The paper tried to maintain high standards of iournalism and pin- pointed many important, newsworthy issues concerned with school functions. The G.O. and the newspaper were powerful reflectors of student opinion. C. Bontomps, N. DuBois, D. O'Koefe, Editor: J. Weisbrod, S. Rose, J. Oaks, P. YEARBOOK 14,1 aww Oh! Those Saturdaysl All hail INITIUM, a creatium, our creatium, first issue, first edition, first year, first class! Deadline nightmares added to financial worries, missing pictures, unfinished layouts and no copy: such constituted the worrjes of the harried editors. On Saturdays, dear readers, they'd trudge back to the school at dawn and work 'til the rubber cement, printer's ink and pencil leads were firmly wedged beneath their finger nails and the last drop of rebel blood had been shed. All, however, was not toil, they concede that the horsemeat hamburgers and extra- seltzerated sodas, though obnoxious, were part of the general enjoyment. Standing: A. Lichman, B. Shapiro, A. Sabina, A. Vorperian, J. Patterson L. Whitton, R. Berger. Seated: Mrs. DeRosa, S. Wiener, L. Yoepp, S. Lynch At last! Peace and quiet! Www- 7' AN' .1 -I if :mi 1
