PIII Spring so long awaited, has finally come. It is harder than ever to stay in school when warm sun- shine streams through the open windows. Students and bees buzz lazily in the class room, and even the teachers have "spring fever". It is especially exciting for the seniors. Young T. Zeigler CLASS 0F 9 Seniors, the class of 1950, can look back with pride to their many successful and enjoyable activities. Among these are the colorful class parties and exciting picnics. Par- ties and picnics, however, are not the only things we can boast of. Our class was well represented at the district and state scholarship tests in 1948. This year a number of seniors were fortunate in receiving scholarships to various colleges and universities. On the evening of May 26, 1950, the seniors gathered in Burnham Hall, probably for the last time together. There was a few minutes of fond reminiscing and then each left to take his or her place in the new world that lay ahead. Our one wish is that each graduate of 1,950 may be deserving of all the best that life can offer. meh Senior Ilfficers Mary jane Edmonds, Arthur james, Marlene Harms, and Bob Zumbrunn. T, 'ss ' r JV! Su pe ri ll le nden t Wlieii we think back over our school days, we will remember Mr. lra Baumgattner for his welcoming speech on the first day of school. Not only does it thaw the ice hover- ing around the seventh graders but it relaxes the students returning for another year at liurnhain. As Superintendent of the Sylvan- ia Public Schools, Mr. Baumgartner is kept very busy, but still finds time to speak a friendly "Hello" to all whom he meets. The Graduating Class of l95O will remember Mr. llaumgartner for his kindness and considera- tion during our last year and previous years at Burnham. 76 Principal Mr. C. D. Cotterman, always ready and will- in g to help a student, parent, or teacher, suc- cessfully completed his seventh year as principal of Burnham High School. "The door to my office is always open"g these words spoken by Mr. Cotterman will long be remembered by our class of 1950. True to his words Mr. Cotterman's door has been open to all who needed his help. Mr. Cot- terman worked toward his B. A. and M. A. degrees at Muskingum College, Ohio State, University of Toledo, Wfestern Reserve, and Columbia Universities. He is studying for his Doctors degree at the University of Michigan. Deans Many activities of the school swirl around the deans' office, located on the third floor. Counseling students is a very important part in the work of the deans. Advising the Student Council, checking attendance problems, planning special assemblies and class elections, and helping students to find joh opportunities, also are the jobs of our deans. School Board On the first Monday of each month, at 7:00 P. M., Mr. Clarence J. Meinen, President, calls the meeting of the school board to order. These meetings center around the welfare of the school, okaying the payments of all bills, and formulating all policies and principles of the school system. Secretaries The administration of Burnham rests in the capable hands of Mrs. Laura Randall, Clerk of the Board of Education and her assistant is Mrs. Kathryn Randall. Mrs. Marguerite Lang is secretary to Mr. C. D. Cotterman while Mrs. Verna Buck is secretary to Mr. Ira Baumgartner. Mrs. Thelma McConnell keeps the school hooks in order. At the beginning of the season the squad looked as though they were mentally asleep, but as the season progressed, seemed to gradually awaken. After two losses to Wfhitmer in league play the team drew the Panthers to be their opponent in their first game of the Class A tournament at Rossford, and again suffered a loss. Harry Rodebaugh succeeded in placing on the All Tournament team and drew a spot on the second All G.N.C. team sponsored by the Blade while Mel Hall and Gary judd received honorable mention. Seven members will be lost to the coach because of graduation, they are: Harry Rodebaugh, Harold Rode- baugh, Mel Hall, Art James, Bob Smith, Bob Hurt and Gary judd, leaving Donn Rush, Larry Brown, Art Brown, Tom jacob and Sam Nofziger to carry the load next year. Some of the girls were so enthusiastic that they played on teams after school one day a week. Wlien the weather got too cold wewere forced inside, but we didn't mind it too much because volleyball took over. Here we practiced skills and had class tournaments, which helped us immensely in our intramural games. Basketball was then welcomed. Wliile two teams were playing hard, the other girls played table tennis, badminton, or just watched. Modern dance was next on the program and then at the first sign of warm weather we were outside running around the track, and playing soft ball and tennis. 9 0 Leaders Club Run' 1: D. Cowell, L. I S P As American cities go, Toledo has a truly significant his- tory. Dating as il does from pioneer times. the city is full of land- marks which revive old memories and remind the present gen- eration ofa glorious past. But there are many modern signs, too, in this bustling Ohio community and we feel we can say, with pardonable pride, that the Owens-Illinois Class Company is one of them. Owens-Illinois is equally proud of the fact that Toledo citi- zens continue to take an active part, as well as a personal interest in this enterprise. which has helped make Toledo the Glass Center of the Vlforld. We trust it is, because we watched every letter . . . every dot . . . in the WYANDOTTE . . . One thing we are sure of, is that we exerted every effort to make it a typographically perfect book . . . And, after 38 years of experi- ence, in which we've produced scores, perhaps hundreds, of high school and college annuals, we believe we know something about it. The verdict, of course, rests with you. In any event we appreciate the opportunity to serve Burnham High School. E. Tippett, Jr., President, THE.
