As a college undergraduaTe, Commander Carver aTTended The UniversiTy of Tennessee for Two years before Transferring To Memphis STaTe UniversiTy where he compleTed his sfudies in i957 and received his B.S. Degree in accounTing. Affer graduaTion he applied for and was accepTed To The OCS program. l-le was commissioned an Ensign in November l957. Eollowing brief periods of insTrucTion in Minewarfare and Naval ,lusTice School, Ensign Carver reporTed To The USS AOOQESSIVE CMSO-11221 for his firsT sea duTy as Eirsf Lieu- TenanT, Minesweeping Officer, and Supply Officer.
