AIDA F. DERRI Turbotville High School, 1918 Williamsport Commercial College, 1920 Indiana State Normal School, 1922 Teacher of Commercial Studies and Grade Penmanship. Is that right, Oscar? Miss Derr is our new teacher. She likes to go sleigh-riding, but as yet We have been unable to discover her attitude toward .Y e tiblackfeyeslf ,obtained .therebyr 2 It is thought that she regards the members of the opposite sex the same as she regards the aforesaid black-eyes, which to all appearances is very favorably. .. -:s ,. .. 1 .. is Ihr Smarter THE SWlxTrER,' is the annual publication of the Swatara Township High School. It was first published by the Senior Class of 1922. They worked very hard to make the book a success as our High School is somewhat handicapped on account of the number of students enrolled. Most high schools that publish a year book have a larger enrollment than Swatara High. T However, in spite of this the book was a greater success than expected. In it is found what the High School has been doing. This year it was again decided that the book should be published. It is the aim of the school to surpass the previous npumber. This '4SWatter,' is designed to reflect the successful work accomplished in the high school during the past years Therefore, wc submit to you the fruits of our labors. Judge our product generously, as ,you do the Work of a friend, for we are your friends. f A EDITOR -6.-

VVc entered as Freshman, numbering twenty-nine. Although half a score left us. Yea, verily we survived it and continued 'as Sophomores. , The faculty Watched over us and taught us our lessons. Yea, tho' we labored, our work was rewarded, They annointed us Seniors, our heads filled with knowledge. Surely the thoughts and remembrance of our Alma Mater will follow Us all the days of our lives and we shall dwell in its Pleasant recollections forever. Our class entered the sacred precincts of Swatara Township High School in the fall of 1919, numbering twenty-nine. Then as we were taught in Civics that A people without a government are a mob, we chose unto ourselves such officers as we saw tit to govern us. After nine long months of hazing and guying we completed our Freshman year and returned as Sophomores, though 'ftherew in spirit our members were sadly depleted by the loss of several more, leaving a class of eleven to commence the Junior year. During our Junior year, thanks to the whole-hearted and untiring efforts of Miss Ethel E. Aungst, we presented a three act play, 'Hllhe Junior, with great success. This was the year our class took an active part in athletics, having four players on the varsity basketball teams, three on the reserves, and one on the varsity baseball team. ' As Seniors we did not undertake to put out the Swatter by ourselves, realizing that there was equally good, if not better talent i'n the rest of the school and also to give the lower classes an opportunity to acquaint themselves with the facts necessary for the publication of such a book. '23's motto is Finish VVhat You Attempt and this we have done to thc utmost extent of our ability. Let us live in the hope that the class of 1923 has done something beneficial to repay the efforts of the Swatara Township High School in divulging to us the path toward knowledge.
