As sweet nostalgia wafts through the empty corridors, a peaceful silence descends. Gently, I will hold you. Spread your arms wide, lie out on the stream and look high at the gulls. A deadman ' s float is face down. You will dive and swim soon enough where this tidewater ebbs to the sea. Daughter, believe me, when you tire on the long thrash to your island, lie up, and survive. Robert 68 Editor ' s Note: People often ask me why I chose to undergo the painful process of editing the yearbook yet a second time. In fact, this is a question that I often ask myself. And for the longest time I had no real answer. Then one day I was struck with an overpowering sense of finality. Graduation was fast approaching and with it the departure of some of my closest friends. This made me fully realize the value of a yearbook. Even though we may be hundreds, perhaps thousands, of miles apart, every time I flip through the pages of the book and see their pictures I will remember our experiences together, and the distance between us will not seem so great. And that is why I edited the yearbook a second time. Because it is important. Because it is a conjurer of fond memories, and I want to be sure that others have the opportunity to benefit from it. So I dedicate this book to the Class of 1987 generally. But more specifically I offer it as tribute to a few who I will miss the most and with whom I hope never to lose touch.
