™ ■ ™ HB Beginnings . . . With change as the constant in our world, we look for protection in what we see as immovable and impenetrable. As Swarthmore students, for us Parrish becomes the embodiment of refuge from change. Yet, as a diverse group, we all see the building with differ- ent perspectives. The 1985 Halcy- on wishes to convey our different views of Parrish as representative of the richness of diversity that comprises our Swarthmore years. Even though Parrish acts as an anchor in an everchanging world, we have not been immune to the changes of the past year. Dupont has been dedicated, Tarble has been desecrated, and Clothier is being redressed. Toshi Reagon and Steve Reich lifted our spirits and James Michener lifted our as- sets. We said goodbye to Coach Lapinski and hello again to DU. Maybe these changes are insig- nificant in light of the profound ef- fect that the past four years have had on this campus. We ' ve lost ML2, Tarble, and a Willets 3rd Floor Kitchen to fire. We ' ve watched a fledgling football team gain steam and explode! We ' ve add- ed a new pool (Ware), a new dorm (Mertz), a new library (Cor- nell), and a new Swattie (Patsy Jardini). These four years have been characterized by flux and we were anchored here during it all. For our constancy over the past four years, this yearbook is dedicated to the class of 1985.
