And perhaps this is true. For many of us, Swarthmore has shaped the core of our lives. Though we will continue to grow and change throughout life, there is a part of us, be it good or bad, that will always belong to Swarthmore. This book is dedicated to Swarthmore: to the time when we thought we wouldn ' t make it through that all-nighter, to the one textbook that was really worth reading, to good friends and sunny days in the Crum, to the times when . . . bk- 4 V mi " i ' ■? " 205 iwiiwi»nayi| |i»M|pir aiii ?. - 206 207 208 Epilogue I remember how I felt Commencement Day; a paradox of sentiments. Half of me was excited, so ready to be free and to move on. My other half suppressed a choked sob that rose in my throat as I took my last walk in the Crum and said good-bye to friends and professors who had been my whole life for four years. Looking back on those years, they weren ' t so bad; but nothing ever is in retrospect. I am grateful for my experience at Swarthmore: for the knowledge, for the close friends, for the wisdom I hope I gained. I shall not say good-bye to Swarthmore for I know that my time there has laid a foundation for me, and that I will return again and again to the Swarthmore that has become a permanent part of me. My friends, I wish you all the luck and happiness the world has to offer. I look forward to the times when our paths will cross again.
