BETTY BIERBAUM Mrs. Bierbaum graduated from Ohio State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Education which qualifies her to teach Girls Health and Physi- cal Education. Bouncing Betty as she is called by her students is also the sponsor of the Gir1's Athletic As- sociation QG.A.A.j and Varsity and Reserve Cheerleaders. VIOLA BULTER A teacher with patience and understand- ing is Mrs. Bulter, a graduate of Ohio State University. She taught Special Education and incorporated many new ideas. This year students were able to buy snacks prepared by this class. Also all of the high school faculty were served dinner, cooked and served by the students. MR. WILLIAM DANIELS Mr. Daniels graduated from B.G.S. U. He teaches Chemistry, Physics, and Earth Science. He also sponsors Photog- raphy Club which this year bought a camera for the school. 38 MR. GHULAM DASTAGIR A native of Afghanistan, Mr. Dastagir is new to Swanton this year. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Adrian College, Michigan. General Math, algebra II, Solid Geometry, and Trig. are the subjects he teaches. A sports enthusiast, he also coaches in the Ir. High. MRS. JUDITH GIGAX A former Swanton High School graduate Mrs. Judith Gigax at- tended Bowling Green University where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in History. KATHRINE JESKA Our Home Economics courses I, II, and III are instructed by Mrs. Kathrine Jeska. She is an alumna of Bowling Green State University. The Future Home- makers of America which she sponsors, this year held a Sweetheart Dance for Valentines Day. MR. WILLIAM HOLDEN This is Mr. William Ho1den's first year of teaching. He graduated from Ohio Northern University. Tiger Holden now teaches American Govern- ment and World Geography. MR. JIM MASON This athletically minded man is a Bowling Green alumnus. In the fall you can see him pacing the football field as he is head coach. Mr. Ma- son is also reserve basketball coach and teachesg boys' health, Phys. Ed. and Drivers' Ed. The student body remembers him for being a star in the Red Head basketball game. MR. .TERRY MASTELLER Our athletic director is Mr. Jerry Masteller. He did a fine job as assistant coach in football and head coach in basketball. In addition to his athletic duties, he also teaches Biology. He received his B.A. and Masters degrees from Bowling Green University. 4k i cycycy y MARK MCQUILLIN Mr. McQuillin is a graduate of Moorehead State University. This man is an active coach of baseball and assistant football coach. This year he led the Freshman basketball team to second in the Bowling Green invitational. Mr. McQuil1in teaches Sociology and Physical Education. BILL MORLOCK Teaching was a new experience for Mr. Morlock. Freshly graduated from Bowling Green University with a bachelor's degree in education he began his first year of teaching at Swanton. He teaches Physical Edu- cation and General Science. Along with this he coached Freshman foot- ball. He seems to have earned the nickname of Bull Derum. 1 MR. FRANK NORTH If you have attended any band concerts you have seen this man at work. Frank North is a Bowling Green Music major. He instructs Mixed Chorus and has complete charge of Senior Band. This year the marching band entertained at half time at football games, held an exchange concert with Liberty Cen- ter and had the Spring Concert. High point this year was Swanton Band attending contest for the first time. They achieved a II rating which is excellent. In March they journeyed to Westmanchester, Ohio for an over night concert. MR. HAROLD RIDGEWAY Mr. Ridgeway received his masters degree from B.G.S.U. He teaches advanced draw- ing and metal shop. This man is always on hand to fix anything from library shelves to broken shoes. A major task, helping with prom, was one of his duties. He is anxious to help those who help themselves. is .K-,S 43 MRS. IRENE SAGERT This teacher of Freshman English and Gen- eral Business received her Bachelor of Sci- ence degree at Ohio State University. She has done much toward starting each Fresh- man student on his way in Swanton High School, and is respected and admired by all the students. MR. ART RUGGLES Mr. Ruggles, our shop and drafting teacher s'ii2 iiii '?'i has a Bachelor or Science degree in Educa- tion from Iowa State University. This busy man is a great help to the Juniors during football and basketball season and especially at Prom time. He was also a big help to our wrestling team this year as assistant coach. DOROTHEA THORNTON An art major from B.G.S.U. , Mrs. Thornton leads our entire are de- partment. This spirited red-head sponsors art club and annual staff. This year the art department held a winter exhibit in connection with the bandg held exhibits in the high school hallsg and in the stores in town. This has helped art to be- come influential throughout the school. Mrs. Thornton is willing to help anyone who needs to be helped. MR. WEBB Commander of O.W. E. was Mr. Webb, who comes to us from Penta County. In this program he taught 1 . students half a day and the rest of Xpwmnmi, Vppppzx p ' the day they attended their jobs. In this way students graduated with on the job training. MR. DAVID ULLUM David Ullum, better known as Coach by the track team, received his B.S. from Bowling Green University. Besides coaching the track team Mr. Ullum teaches Speech, Ioumalism, and English II. This year he also directed the Junior and Senior Class Plays. MRS. BRIGITTE THOMAS Mrs. Thomas, a native of Germany, attended Milligan College, Tennessee, University of Toledo, and Bowling Green University. She now teaches French I, II, and III, and Junior English. As you entered, you viewed everything from a quiet garden and flower shop to the famous Eifel Tower. Everyone danced in the street to the music of Eastwood Band. Entertainment was provided by the new and different comedy team of Rick and Ken. Swanton's Tiger Hol- den displayed his music talents on the organ. Climax of the evening was at 12 midnight when the coronation took place. The 1968 King and Queen was Jerilyn Walker and Steve Smith. Mixed Chorus started the pro- gram with Black is the Color and ended with the popular song Born Free. A lively number Polka for Band was played by the Junior Band. 'The stage band was enjoyed and performed Blue Moon for an encore. Highlight of the concert was the 92 piece symphonic band.
