However , they aren't always on the student's side, Many times they help the teachers by typing and mimeographing tests and exams. Their other duties in- clude being smiling receptionists to the schools many callers, an- swering correspondence, making state reports, keeping cafeteria records , and helping new s tu - dents enroll. Membership was open to sophomore and freshmen Latin students. The purpose of the club was to pro- mote an interest in the Latin language and in Roman culture. Track Team IvU.KEL GROVES - 1959 TRACK QUEEN Swanton High is proud of its track team this year, They ran against twelve different schools and outscored ten of them, c oming in second in the Northwestern Ohio League and placing first in the Fulton County Inde- pendent meet. Out of fifteen possible school records, this year's thinclads hold ten, with Jim Hunt re- taining six of them, Others are held by John Mossing and Kirk Badgett. Had the team been compiled of more ex- perienced members it would have done much better. Coach Kleck reported that the team has improved over last year's. Senior members of the team were Tom Norris, Jim Thomas, and Charles Guillen, As pitcher, Chuck threw some fine games, Tom Norris and Dan McQuade also made a fine showing this season. On this memorable evening five outstanding girls were chosen to highlight the festivities. Chosen as the 58-59 Queen was Oddlyn Bundy. The crowning of Miss Bundy as queen began the homecoming festivity. After the climactic game, a dance was held in the gynmasium. This year the students were initiated with the help of the Wauseon chapter at an assembly of the entire high school and the parents of the new members, Each member was presented with a certificate and a gold pin with the insignia of the national chapter.
