Editorial We, the Class of 1953, have now completed our high school educa- tion. We must, however, not think of it as completed. Education of the individual is a life process and over its road one will encounter many hardships as well as many pleasant and satisfying experiences. Be- cause of the former we must not become embittered toward society. To the latter we ought to be most thankful because our lot for the most part, “has fallen in pleasant pastures beside the still waters.’’ The past four years have given us many opportunities to develop our personalities in proportion to our varying abilities. Let us go for- ward, ever mindful, that we can be more worthy of our own life if we put into practice the teachings we have learned in school. May we never forget that the essential “good’’ of an individual is unselfishness for we must believe, “that he who lives for self only is of all men most miserable.’’ Another teaching we should not forget is that we must be thinking citizens to the end that each may weigh and consider the ques- tions of the day and then render decisions free from bias or prejudice. Although the seeds of loyalty and devotion to God, country and home have been taught to us it is up to each one to nurture such more fully so that we may pass on to future generations those principles of honesty, justice and tolerance which have played so important a part in our American way of life. May the richness of life attend your pathway, overshadowed, I hope, by pleasant memories of friendships made at Sutton Memorial High.
