of the cupids and hearts were quite appropriate for this special night. So the Class of ’53 has made its records in the annals of history. We are proud of the work we have done together, and though our happy high school years are coming to an end, we are not through learning. This is only the beginning of better things. Here, under the guidance of our ever genial and sympathetic teachers and principal, we have built the foundation for what we may do in the years that lie ahead. There can be no doubt that we shall go on remembering what Sutton has given to us, thus showing our appreciation for what we have acquired from our parents, our faculty, our friends, and S. H. S. ease ahead of us, for now we were really upperclassmen. Ronald Gibson was elected President; Hazel Whittier, Vice-President; Marcia Bjork, Secretary; and Joyce Flanagan, Treasurer. Once again one of our classmates, Marilyn Swart, was crowned Queen of the Valentine Ball. On the appointed Saturday morning we peeled and cooked vegetables, tiring ourselves before it actu- ally took place. However, it was certainly worth everyone’s effort and it proved very successful. Our next event was the presentation of our play “REST ASSURED’’, which proved very successful through the tireless direction of Miss Beechler . It was shortly after the play when Miss Beechler left our teaching faculty that the responsibility of the Seniors was taken over by Mr. Schwab. The Valentine Ball was presented on February 14, 1953. ; ' ' ] The Senior Play, ‘‘Rest Assured,” under the outstanding direction of Miss Anne L,. Beechler was presented November 15, 1952. Through much excitement and nervousness we stood backstage waiting for the thrilling moment which would make us actors for a night. We wish to express sincere appreciation to all those who co-operated in making it a huge success. 19
