EHAN LEN ROCK DEDICATED TO THE CLASS OF 1984 Each year the Calumet staff dedicates the yearbook to someone it wishes to honor. Through four years we developed friendships, com- peted with and against each other, and learned to unite as a class. Some time during our senior year, we realized that this time together would soon end. Outwardly we said we were looking forward to the end of our school careers but we also realized it was the end of four years as a class we will never nave again. 4 HOMECOMING 84 WENDY KURTZ, QUEEN Gail Luckenbaugh, 1st runner up Cheryli Muth, 2nd runner up Jodi Krom Lisa Kauffman Wendy Miller Karen Hofstetter Amy Gross Amy Williams Kelly O'Connor 5 16 BREAKING EVEN The 1983 edition of the Warrior football team began the season with two straight wins and everyone began thinking of county champion- ship. The friendships we developed mean as much as the diploma we carry from here on graduation night. As we look back years from now, we’ll pause to remember those times as some of the best of our lives. Spending the school year with Rick Fairbend and his family, he soon learned the routine of school life here in America. Mario liked sports and played for our county cham- pionship soccer team. He ap- peared to be very quiet but those who became friends knew he was funny and outgoing. If you asked Mario the one thing he liked best about our country, he would say the girls! TIFFANY The first time you heard Tiffany Burke's accent, you knew she couldn't be from Southern York Coun- ty. Tiffany came from Australia and stayed with Karen Hodgson and her family. Those people who got to know her well really enjoyed her bubbly, outgoing personality. Everyone was impressed with her artistic ability. We’ll all miss her and her vegemite sandwiches. 149 OUR NIGHT TO SHINE What can be said about graduation that hasn’t been said before? It's a moment we all strived for for twelve years. Now that it's here, we have mixed emotions. We are sad, happy, and unsure of what the future brings. But when everything else is put aside, we realize that it is our night in the spotlight. Speaking for the entire staff, this year has been a rewarding experience. In the beginning of the year, we came together as a group of inexperienced people not knowing what to expect We learned layout, picture choice, and selecting the right copy to describe the chosen picture. We panicked at our first deadline, worked hard to meet the second deadline, and began feeling comfortable at the third. We agreed on some things and disagreed on many others. What would the cover look like? What color endsheets could we use? How many pages would the book contain? and How much would the book cost? Through it all. we learned to work together to achieve a common goal. We saw the book take shape before our very eyes. As the end drew near, we saw our publication shaping into a completed work. As you hold our efforts in your hands and look through the pages, think of us as we tried to collect the entire 1983-84 school year for you. Sincerely, Jenny Brown, Editor Mr. Jeffrey Becker, Advisor and the Calumet Yearbook Staff 192
