Fair FATHOMING THE DEPTHS OF LEADERSHIPS 49 MEMORY MAKERS The idea of creating a yearbook did not turn out to be what most of us thought it would. It sure isn’t as glamorous as we expected. But through the hard work of a few dedicated staff members, we have managed to pull it off. Unlike past years, the staff was comprised of mostly juniors, with only a few seniors and sophomores. This in itself was a real challenge since we were all inexperienced. It’s not an easy job to capture the emotions, moments, and memories of the school year under one cover. TOP: J. Mummert, D. This year’s band front obtained two new advisors, Connie Britcher and Linda Garret, to go along with a new season. Wearing new uniforms the Colorguard and Majorettes members took to the field with new hopes and aspirations. All band front participants practiced long summer hours and evenings after school to prove their dedication. Not only are they enthusiastic, but they are also dedicated to their work. Both basketball and wrestling cheerleaders worked hard to get the fans involved in cheering for our games. The basketball squad is still recognized in York County as the only squad with male members. Throughout the basketball playoffs this year, the cheerleaders remained optimistic and could be seen rooting for the Warriors dur- ing the lengthy season. The wrestling cheerleaders expanded with a new squad of J V cheerleaders this year. TOP: Varsity Basketball: front: R. Griffin standing: K. Seim, L. Moltz, C. Clocker, J. Papale, K. Harris, M. Homecoming Week seems to bring the best out of Susquehannock High School. Each group involved works as a unit to reach its goal. The band works long hours to put together a Homecoming show. The classes put their best artists to work on floats and hall decorations. The football team prac- tices a little harder for their Friday night game. Finally everyone involved works many hours to make the Homecoming dance a crowning success. TOP: Neal Sprenkle gels ready for the big game. BOTTOM LEFT: Cheerleaders and excitement go together. Although much effort was put forth, by the cast and the director, Mr. Ruth, the play was poorly attended. However, everyone involv- ed agreed it was a worthwhile experience. On Friday, our school hosts many exchange students from around the county. An AFS assembly shows off the talent of these students. Friday evening a social is held for the students to meet and make new friends. The weekend is climaxed with a dance in the high school gym. The AFS king and queen are crowned. This confideace was reflected in the fans. Stauffer's enthusiasm was the key to motivation to which the girls were assured before each game, leading them to 2nd place in the York County League. From there they went to districts allowing them to end the season on a good note. With the inspiration and direction of Miss Wagner, the junior varsity field hockey team was able to carry on its reputation of gaining the title as York County Champs. Considering the fact that there were many freshmen without ex- perience, the rest of the squad was very suc- cessful at “breaking them in” to the game. Con- gratulations Gang! Our team also widened its grip by adding a girl to the team for the first time. She. as well as the others, showed our high school just what Warrior Power is all about. Good Luck toward another winning season. 104 THE SWINGERS OF S.H.S. This year’s golf scores resulted in a 5-5 record for the 1981 season. The playing experience gained by the new golf members serves as preparation for the upcoming years. The golf team showed a tremendous effort during their 1981 season. TOP: Seniors |ohn Lewis. If every Italian is as Cheery as ours, Italy must certainly be a magnificent place. Michella Dellamonica, one of this year’s senior exchange students resides with the Laf- ferty’s. She is seldom seen in S.H.S. halls without her broad, friendly smile. Here’s to say we love you Michella and we’ll always treasure the memories of your wonderful year. THE KANGAROO KID Our closest friend from the kangaroo country of New Zealand is Peter Wass. Pete has been staying with the Craig's, his host family, since early fall. Surely all who know him have fallen in love with his accent and jovial personality. Before Pete leaves the hustle and bustle of S.H.S. we would like to say Thank you Pete for making 1982 a year worthy of remembrance. We hope your return to college here in the U.S. will be pleasant. 147 FRENCH FRIENDSHIP Who is the young man who seemed convinced he had forgotten how to speak his native language until an ex- cursion to Canada? But of course, he’s none other than Mike Aubry. A guest of the Pearson residence, Mike has im- pressed us all with his expertise in several languages. His easy-going per- sonality makes him a welcome addition to this year’s senior class. From all of us Mike, Thank you for sharing your knowledge and your country with us. We shall always entertain fond memories of France because of you. A SPANISH SPECIALITY This year the warriors em- braced a new member of their football team. His name, Moises Budeguer, a senior exchange student from Argentina. While in the U.S. Moises stayed with Janice Blachowicz and her family in the outskirts of Shrewsbury. We would like to thank this handsome young man for spending a year with us. We’re looking forward to seeing you in years to come. 149 THE FINAL MOMENT The night that every senior waits for had finally arrived. Mixed emotions of happiness and sorrow could not be hiaaen.
