Mr. Robert Zigler, Miss Nancy Boyle, and Mr. Robert McCoy. Physical Education, Health, and Driver Education Through the tireless efforts of the Physical Education and Driver Education departments, Susquehannock's students learn the skills of applying good sports- manship. Senior High Students are well informed in the art of operating an automobile and obeying the traffic laws in Driver Edu- cation. Physical Education teachers instruct both boys and girls in sports and encour- age participation on the school's athletic teams. Boys practice gymnastics.

STANDING: Mr. Guy Mergenthaler, Mr. Matthew Mensch, Mr. Roland Heath- Cote. Guidance Guiding students through their high school years, recording grades, and inter- viewing seniors are a few of the jobs of the guidance department. Guidance teach- ers are available to the students for coun- seling and assisting at any time. These faculty members encourage stu- dents to further their education and to plan for their future careers. The librarian lends assistance in find- ing books and references. English Ain't ain't no word is one of the many things the English teachers strive to teach their students. Pupils are informed in the proper use of grammar as well as in great literary works. Another division of the English depart- ment is the journalism classes. Students learn the correct skills of Writing. In tenth, eleventh, and twelfth grades students are introduced to Julius Cae- sar,', Macbeth, and Hamlet 9

Home Economics Both Junior and Senior high students are instructed in the fundamental princi- ples of homemaking. Under the guidance of the Home Eco- nomics' teachers, students are shown the proper methods to acquire skill in cook- ing, sewing, and managing the home. Beginning with a simple apron, they master the skill of sewing until they have completed a dress. In cooking they learn to make everything from a biscuit to a full course meal. Modern appliances are available to all Home Ec. classes. These experiences prepare the students as future homemakers. Nurse Safeguarding the health of the stu- dents is the aim of nurses, Mrs. Margaret Anderson and Mrs. Loretta Rappolt. In the grades seven, nine, and eleven, phys- ical examinations are conducted by Dr. Remley with the assistance of the nurses. Hearing and vision tests are given also. Mrs. Anderson is available to any stu- dent who needs medical attention. Mrs, Teresa Black and Mrs. Henrietta Wilt. Nurse-Mrs. Margaret Anderson. I I M
