Q)cafrca w i We the Class of 1987 would like to dedicate our yearbook to Mrs. Priscilla Burns. Her many fine contributions have added new dimensions to Susquehanna Valley. We wish her good luck, health and happiness. Mrs. Priscilla Burns, husbar.d Robert and grandson Ryan Mrs. Burns came to S. V. in September 1970 as a full time English teacher although she had substitu- ted during the preceding year. She has a B.A. in English from Russell Sage College in Troy, New York. Her teaching career began some years later, after working as a draftsman and raising two children, both S.V. graduates. Her graduate studies were done in the MAT program at S.U.N.Y., Binghamton. Besides teaching Regents English, she helped establish the electives program for seniors, which ran from 1974 to 1981, in which she taught drama and creative writing. She was advisor for Student Council and the Class of 1981 However, she would like to be remembered for her direction of her dramatic production of Thornton Wilder’s SKIN OF OUR TEETH, the formation of POTOURRI, S.V.’s literary magazine, and especially the fact that she really enjoyed teaching students. 2

Principal’s Message As members of the Class of 1987, yours is the 26th class to be graduated from our high school. Congratulations on a job well done. Undoubtedly as the years pass, you will look through this book many times reminiscing about your high school days. One memory I would like you to always carry with you is the fact that Susquehanna Valley High School has been honored by the State Education Department as being one of the top sixteen high schools in New York state. We are as proud of this recognition, as I'm sure you are. We have been able to excel because of our dedicated staff, our fine programs, and most importantly, because of you our students who have made the most of what we have been able to offer you. You are family and as you take your place in the adult world, we will miss you. Think of us from time to time, stop in to visit whenever possible. We will remember you with a fondness that has grown over the last three years. In closing, I wish all of you the best of luck in the future. I know you will make us proud of your accomplishments. Samuel S. Cadden High School Principal
