Mr. Shroat attended Lock Haven State Teachers' College in Pennsylvania, the Uni- versity of Pittsburgh and Pennsylvania State University. He came to our system in 1957 when he taught seventh grade in the Fire Station. The next year he taught algebra in our new high school. He then became our high school principal in the fall of 1959, We are all aware, and proudly so, of the devotion that he gives each day to build a school that has earned the respect of our community. His dedication to duty is an inspi- ration to all who share his task- student or co-worker. Thus, our deep appreciation is manifested with this tribute to Mr. Shroat. rl Hxfif ll 6S'.7 w X 41 ian' Q04 , V - - Y T' - 'FL1 Tifi ' . Xv'T?3 : gh 1, 4 A Q . 4 Q V pr- r ' . The death of President Kennedy is not only anational catastrophe and disgrace but an immeasurable loss for the future of all man- kind. May your generation go forth dedicated to the equality and freedom of man as were exemplified in his ideals and in the vision for which he lived. If you can so dedicate your lives, then this great leader and friend of man has not died in vain. If we can so live together, his dream will become reality. Let both sides seek to invoke the wonders of science instead of its ter- rors. Together let us explore the stars, conquer the deserts, eradicate di- sease, tap the ocean depths and encourage the arts and commerce. In these words, a humble John Fitzgerald Kennedy established a goal for you and all mankind. ADMINISTRATION QD 0 0 M 5 BOARD OF EDUCATION MR. GRANT BOYER MR. FREDERICK BURGESS MR. ROGER CONKLIN MR. Q: - ' Eli 4:43 DAVE HILL This year our Varsity football team experienced a new sensation - winning! Under the capable leadership of our devoted coaches, Mr. Giannetto and Mr. Farrell, we achieved a 4-3-l record, the first winning season in S. V. history. We must congratulate our excellent backs and powerful line for the tremendous job they played in achieving such a fine record. We had a couple of new opponents this year, but our biggest game was with Central. Although we lost this contest, everyone put forth a tremendous effortg but were destined to lose, it seemed, for we received one bad break after another. We once again commend our team and coaches on this our first of a long series of winning seasons. Congratulations! Varsity! ' I 'rl lx 5' 5. Fred Cobb. This year we added a new sport - wrestling. We achieved much success in this new sport. This was a new team, but the coach, Mr. Wilcox, says that the boys were very serious and that they worked very well together. He is satisfied with the turnout, having 35 boys participating. Thus we extend our sincere congratulations to the wrestling team on a fine season and wish much success to the wrestling teams of the future. Good work!
