I sought to tell her of my love And reached to touch her floating hair. A shadow passed the boughs above, And just a yellow leaf hung there. GRAHAM LANDRUINI 'Qf BEFORE SLEEP just before sleep is a weird time The body dormant, the mind, preternaturally active, Sorrows over mistakes of yesterday, Ponders the problems of today, Makes grand, impossible plans for the morrow. Horrible out-of-proportion events Follow in erratic sequence like images in an infocused lens. The uncontrolled mind, unillumined by the cold, clear light of logic Seems to stagger on the brink of insanity itself. Thoughts finally drift into hazy dream-like images of desircg Then all is quiet.
