Class Prophecy The following is the annual report taken from the official files of the Gyro-sonic Patrol: Date: May 27, 1978 Time: 7:30 A.M. Subject: Invasion of Destiny To: The Rising Senior Class I . It actually began with my receiving a space-o-gram, the subject of which was a request for my presence at the tryouts of the Supersede saucer. Said report was signed by EARL TOWERY and STEVE VOSLOH, chief engineers in charge of pro¬ ject XYZ . 2. I reported to their lunar observatories thismorning, where I was received by the cryptographer, MARIA MANESS, and stenographer, JOANNE STEVENSON. Taken out to the saucer, which was of unusual size, I was informed that the strange abilities of this invention included the physical aptness to see into buildings. 3. The flight began, and soon we were over Radium City. Looking into the snooper-scope, the first thing we saw was a sign pointing out the Electronic Materia I Mai ntenance Studios. We moved in closer to investigate. Result: JEAN GAMBLE, JEAN CREEDE, and NORMA COBLE reporting to work early in order to take care of the teenage rush for instruc¬ tions on the new dance sweeping the universe— The Stratospheric Hop. 4. Next, we peered in on BERKLEY DILLON teaching new tricks to his former.instructor. Bob Cummings. Employed by Berkley were LAWRENCE WALKER and NORMAN TOLBERT. We also recognized LEROY DODSON and ROY DUNCAN as promising students. 5. We found HELEN RABENHORST in her office creating cartographic designs for this International Geophysical Year. What won ' t our women think of next? 6. We were astounded at finding CAROLYN TIPPETT as head of the largest co-education academy. Spectroscopy Insti¬ tute. ROY LEE GRAY, who has just been promoted to a full-time professorship, was advising his students on precision main¬ tenance. We understand that his chief student, MARTHA SLEIGHT, plays with the Universe Trotters. 7. Even in this highly advanced age there seems to be a need for love, with its ensuing problems and someone to solve them! We found JULIA CANTER doing just that, and JEANNE CHANDLER, marriage consultant, was helping her. 8. When we looked in on the Institution for Diseased Personages, we met the medical supervisor. Dr. FRANK HALL; head nurse, MARY BETH WILSON; dietitian, VAN 7J DAVIS; technicians , MYRA HARRIS and VIRGIN IA PUGH; and re¬ ceptionist, JACKIE JOHNSON. 9. Next we visited DAVID STEWART ' s universally famous Cinerama. Now playing is Destinations Unlimited, which has had a thirty-day run already. We saw, starring in the movie, MONROE OZMENT, BECKY EDWARDS, and BONNIE DANLEY. We noticed that special recognition went to MARY RUTH WHITE, audio specialist; JIMMY McCASKILL, pro¬ cess photographer; and JUDY BARRICKS, lithographic plate developer. 10. In the Universal Room of Knowledge, we found chief librarian, ALLIE MAE COCKER HAM, and her assistant, DALPHINE SNOW, checking and numbering books on space colonization. II . Looking in on the Better Domiciles and Hydroponics Publishing Company, we saw RUBY MOSER, the new editor, with her assistants, JUDY BROOKBANK, and JUNE HODGIN . Judy and June scout for, and write, the Who ' s Who column. 1 2. Moving into outer space, we had to dodge an electro-jet pi loted by ALLAN R Y A N wi th his co-pi lot D O N A L D McCANDLESS. 13. Shortly afterwards, wealmost collided with SUSAN MOORE, who tests new space cruisers for GEORGE ROBBINS, the universe ' s foremost designer of space craft. His newest ship is the Doppler. 14. On the earth ' s new artificial satellite. Mi mi track, we found JANE MORGAN engaged in her missionary work. GERALD CLARK was co-operating by teaching, to the inhabitants of Mi mi track, advanced agriculture and the use of common farm implements such as the nuclear distributer, the deuteruim turbine, and the hydrogen terracerator. 15. On returning to headquarters, we found that, as usual, BENNY KINLEY was still in a state of general confusion over the positions of the Supergiants and the Subgiants, and the Dwarfs, and the Subdwarfs, as compared to the Main Sequence. Said confusion was probably a partial result of worrying over the loss of his pet hen. Due to the unique and secret nature of this report, I found it advisable to formulate said report myself. Report by: David Hedgecock, Chief Ranger of Gyro-sonic Patrol Commanding Officer: David Hedgecock DAVID HEDGECOCK
