Standing: STUDENT Here at Summit High School the students and teachers have established an organization called the General Organization. The Student Council is the gov- ernin body of this organization. The Council is made up four elected officers, President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer, an appointed Parliamentarian: representatives from the permanent committees and R. Pennington, VV. Van NVinkle, I. McTernan, B. Sayre, H. Schmidt, V. Sherman, B. Butler, P. VVenzel, C. Hallingse, F. Stauder, G. Owren M. Caruso, F. Cage, J. Stranad, F. Carbone, A. Cardone, A. Torell. COUNCIL clubs, homeroom representatives, and advisors. The officers for this year C1956-575 were: Leonard Lombardo, President, Ann Howard, Vice-president, Joanne Popollilo, Secretary, Eleanor Brundo, Treasurer, and Arthur Torell, Parliamentarian. Mr. john Tyndall and Mr. joseph McClellan are the co-advisors for the Student Council. First row: I. Bonardel, B. Best, S. Maclay, S. Crow, I. McCann. Second row: D. Connell, P. Roberts, E. McCue, S. Skiles, K. Ken- nedy, I. Ahern, E. Bolash, A. Howard. Third row: B. Butler, L. SERVICE Each spring, the junior and sophomore classes and a faculty committee elect the members of the Service Committee for the following school years. This year, due to increasing numbers of students, it was necessary to add two more members. Many tasks, including ushering for the C.O. Show, the Hospital Follies, Athenaeum, the Spring Concert, Lombardo, YV. Badgley, A. Cinocchio, P. Eddy, N. Lavery, A. Fox, NV. Van Winkle, H. Evans, R. Pennington, D. McFadden. COMMITTEE graduation, and the football games, are assigned to the Service Committee. They also lead the homerooms to assemblies, and have a member on hall duty at the front entrance to receive school visitors. Mr. VVilliam Lulcens, who served as faculty advisor for the Hrst time, has done an exceptionally fine job. He and VVebb VanXVinkle, chairman, deserve the deep ap- preciation of the entire committee for all their efforts.

HOUSE AND GROUNDS COMMITTEE Si The House and Grounds Committee stationed pu- pils in the corridors. Assigned to a post, they reported to it each day, maintaining order in the halls and check- ing the washrooms to see that they were not abused. These students kept an eye out for any destruction of school property. When such damage was found it was reported immediately to Mr. Harry Dampman, the advisor of the committee, so that it could be checked. During the past year, the student body was generally co-operative in this manner. Most people do not realize how much this com- mittee has done for Summit High School, aiding in the prevention of accidents in the halls and the keeping of an orderly building. First row: I. ASSEMBLY COMMITTEE The Assembly Committee is a joint faculty-student group whose responsibility it is to outline the assem- bly programs throughout the year. Co-ordinated by Mrs. Helen Davis, it consisted of three members of the faculty, Mr. Harry Hannaford, Mr. Daniel Kautz- man, and Mr. Robert Latzer, and eight students, in- cluding the President of the C,O. As a follow-up to the exchange assembly plan with Madison High School, Madison gave an assembly which featured their dance band. Other programs were the Frank- lin-Marshall College band, the Honor Society recog- nition, and our own dance band. Judging from the interest with which the student body received these presentations, it is evident that the committee's efforts were successful. CORRIDOR COMMITTEE YVill you please go to your homeroom? - This is a refrain heard by many students before and after school. The Corridor Committee performed its endless job of assisting the student body in passing through the halls, and obeying the school's regula- tions. The committee, composed of juniors and seniors, had regular meetings on the second Tuesday of the month. The committees tasks were carefully execut- ed under the guidance and leadership of ehlirman Camille Guarduillo, and Mr. Charles Knipple, advisor. 30
