Locks Edward Borsa lames Mrsuraca Theodore Ludwrn Stanly Salva loseph DAscolr Srdney Bushnell loseph Lamana Terrance Burke from Thompsonvrlle Connectrcut Henry Earle Thomas Cooney Wrllram Davrs and Eay Wrllrams all harl from Sprrngfreld Massa chusetts Thrs year somethrng thus far undone at The Academy has been allowed rn order to admrt more of the students who have applred Many of the students are lrvrng downtown rn prrvate homes wrth the permrssron of Mr Hahn Among those allowed to do thrs are Robert Allarre Robert Archrbald Henry Bartnrckr Seward Rrdlon Rrchard Haney Walker Mrles and loseph Telepcrak all of whom lrve rn Suffreld Robert Cupcake Drnneen heard that there was a good chance at Su ffreld Academy for a brg cake to be transferred rnto a brg crumb Hence Suffreld Academy recerved another veteran and rooter Ralph Knowles a veteran and resrdent of Hartford came to The Academy wrth hopes of gettrng away from the Army But where drd he end up? ln wrth all the veterans rn three rooms that now have the aspect of the busrest army barracks lohn Kloss of Torrrngton Connectrcut heard that gorng to school was easrer than workrng rn a factory so he came to Suffreld l wonder rf he drd the wrse thrng'9 Karl Rannenberg was about the only person who came to Suffreld Academy for the sole purpose of studyrng Robert Br arnard lrke Paul Schatz had the desrre to become a brg wheel at Suffreld Consrderrng that he has only been here for one year he has not only egualed hrs rdeal but has surpassed hrm loseph Brourllard of Holyoke Massa chusetts after about two months of sayrng goodby to you know who frnally was able to reach Suffreld and get down to some real good work scholastrc and extra currrcular both Robert Brz the Best Nrckle Candy there lzzzz and a very good fellow he rs Robert Cowles was sent up to watch over hrs younger brother Rrchard both of whom are from Hartford Connectrcut Tom Ford was here at Suffreld Academy rn 1945 but Uncle Sam called hrm away to serve hrs country He lrked rt here so much that thrs year 1946 h returned One day wnrle gorng to Sprrngfreld wrth Hartfords famous Gertre Sherman Mousre Welson was krcked out of a car onto the front steps of the Mrddle Burldrng A few of the boys at school carted Mousre upstarrs where he stayed for the remarnder of the year Fred Prosratkowskr Ir of Bloomfreld Connectrcut by some strange power was able to tear Cand I do mean tear for there were srx horses pullrng hrrnl hrmself away from hrs rnsprratron and come to Suffreld That quret boy Donald Porkre Herman from Vfrnsted was berng sought for by everyone rn Wrnsted Lrttle drd they know that Porkre had gone to Suffreld Academy to garn some knowledge Iohn Krrmmel of Audobon New lersey when offered a scholarshrp to West Pornt Dartmouth Unrversrty of Pennsylvanra or Suffreld Academy naturally chose Suffreld Academy l dont really blame hrm Henry Drewnowskr of Agawam Massachusetts and Robert Bulrush Wrlcox of Sprrngfreld Massa chusetts both came to The Academy to play football Drewnowskr for the Varsrty and Wrlcox for the lunror School They both broke records rn athletrcs whrle here at Suffreld Drewnowskr for berng the backer up to the lrne and Wrlcox for berng the only post grad uate ever to play on the lunror School team Gerald Crasnrck of Wrnthrop Massachusetts was washed down to Suffreld by one of those frequent floods that they have on the coast Earnest Pendleton of Westfreld Massachusetts came to Suffreld to get away from the mon otony of lrvrng rn the same town for erghteen long years Thomas Cannon Chester Kuras Wallace Drenzek and Gene Sullrvan got trred of gorng to Suffreld Hrgh School and decrded that rt was trme to go to a drfferent school Consequently they walked up the road about a mrle and where do you thrnk they were? Class Hlstory Four long years ago way back rn 1943 the Senror Class was started when a huge trarler from the Consolrdated Truckrng Company went zoomrng by Suffreld Academy towards Sprrngfreld and lost a brg wheel and Paul Schatz of Hartford Connectrcut arrrved The very same day a Conga Lrne got lost rn New York and one of the partrcrpants Robert Kenan of Muskegon Mrchrgan arrrved here A Mrddletown Crrcus lost rts strongman the day that lack Crusher Meehl decrded to come to Suffreld Academy Next year the second year of the Senror Class s exrstence 1944 brought us the Senror Class an assortment of anrmals and rnsects rncludrng Robert Rooster O Donnell and War burton Sprder Webb from Torrrngton and Farrfreld Connectrcut respectrvely The Senror Class also rmported three boys from Sprrngfreld fsavrng them from the clutches of Ma Freldsb namely lohn Cooney Patrrck Frtzgerald and Conrad Eberhardt Van Muscles Mrtchell whrle on a werght lrftrng tour of New England stopped off at Suffrela and lrked rt so much he decrded to grve up hrs career and become a scholar Arthur Frshman Presrdent of the Bluffer s Socrety of Hartford Connectrcut won a free scholarshrp to any academy thus enablrng hrm to attend the frne old rnstrtutron of Suffreld Academy In the year 1945 the thrrd year of the Senror Class the Class really began to become somethrng what wrth frfteen new members Gene and ferry Fenton peddled up from New Haven Connectrcut on therr new brcycles rn Just two hours and srxteen and one quarter m-rnutes the new worlds record Russell Holy Cow Whrtman started to follow a holy cow and before he realrzed rt here he was rn Boston Massachusetts Srnce he was so near to The Academy he thought rt wrser to go to school here than to go all the way back to Lrncoln Nebraska l have heard that lay Deyette of Northampton Massachusetts flew to Suffreld Academy rn an arrplane because he thought rt the fastest way to get away from those Smrth grrls You poor boy youl Mortrmore Lotane came here as part of a busrness deal hrs Dad made wrth the Marn Offrce when he sold them a new addrng machrne It was bargarn day Whrle workrng at the Coca Cola Plant rn Hartford Connectrcut Rrchard Law rence got lost among the Coke bottles When the Torch Club got rts next shrpment of that delrcrous beverage whom do you thrnk was rn one of the bottles?
