TWIRLIN G Vaffily Adtirer ........................ MR. ROMAN This year there has been a large and active twirling club. This club has two major aims: first, to interest more girls in this sport, and second, to insure future varsity twirlers. Mr. Roman has been adviser and the ten varsity twirlers have worked hard to instruct this group. All are doing well and Suffern High has some wonderful future twirlers. 1.4, JUNIOR HIGH STUDENT COUNCIL Pfefidenz ..................... MISS DOLORES LAVENBURG MR. WILLIAM W. MAHANEY The junior High Student Council, which represents Grades 7-8, opened the school year with a spirited election of ofiicers. Soon after elections were over, the annual drive for canned goods started, for the Good Samaritan Hospital. With 250 cans as a goal, the drive finally ended with an amazing total of close to 1,000 cans of food. The annual Halloween party was held at school with great success. In january a night dance with a 10-piece orchestra was held at the elementary school. ROD AND GUN CLUB junior Prerident .................. ROGER GALL Senior Prerident .................. ARNOLD ELLER The Rod and Gun Club is divided into t sections, junior for the 7th and 8th Grad and Senior for the 11th and 12th Grad Meetings were devoted to discussions of tec niques of hunting, fishing, and trapping, a members report on individual experien during the game seasons. Films on shooting were shown and pla for a rifle range were completed. The impo ance of the proper conservation was stress throughout the season.

'ik V, .ill 2. .We-i KNITTING CLUB Adz-rier .,...................... Miss BETTY DWYER Knitting starts in the club where one learns to cast On the progresses from there. The bulk of the masterpiece is knitted anywhere, at home, the classroom or lunch periods. Lost or droped stitches, the worry of every knitter are picked up in the halls-Or girls P.E. Oilice. Knitrers range from beginners to experts of many years. Among the finished products were mainly socks and mittens for beginners, sweaters, more intricate forms of socks and mittens for the more advanced needle wielders! BACHELORS' CLUB Admer ....,...,..... Miss DOROTHY WALKER With Senior boys as members, this club really progressed from soup to nuts. During the year, some of their culinary capers in- cluded biscuits, muffins. cookies of every size and shape, gingerbread, cakes, fudge, pizza pie, meat loaf, spaghetti dinners, and of course, the very masculine apple pie. The closing session of the club was devoted to a strictly bachelor dinner which the boys prepared and served themselves. I xA GLAMOUR CLUB Admer ............... Miss DOROTHY WALKER The ninth and tenth grade girls of Glamour Club worked On the various phases of groom- ing during their club periods. They practiced manicuring and hair styling, discussed cloth- ing, personal coloring, and the best way to wear make-up for facial types. A local beautician gave a demonstration of setting and styling hair, which was of great interest to the girls.

Miss I2vA CLAPP The Spring Concert gave the junior High Girls' Glee Club an opportunity to make a public appearance. This group, composed of 7th and Sth grade girls, met every Monday to work on two and some times three part songs which they were going to perform. Miss Em CLAPP The blunior Bands only apearance of the year was made at the Spring Concert. From the beginning of the year. this group worked diligently to perfect the numbers which they presented. Rehearsals were held twice weekly during the eighth period and the bands efforts were warmly rewarded by audience appreciation. 1 vi 45 fl ff? H4 DANCING CLUB fitlmtfr . ,......... Miss Dotoites LAv12NBURG The Seventh and Eighth Grade Dancing Club has had a most successful year. The class periods were divided so that lessons were given during the first half. and the second part of the period was for practice. The class. numbering over 100 boys and girls, was so large that it was necessary to alternate the days so that the Seventh Grade came one day and the Eighth Grade the next time. liven though each class had only one lesson every two weeks. the newcomers to dancing watched and listened carefully and practiced faithfully. just watch them next year on the dance floor!
