D. E. Trainin Thirty-four lunior and Senior students were enrolled in the D. E. program in Vocational training this year in the Stuttgart High School. The Distributive Education training program as referred to above is where a student in the Iunior or Senior class, sixteen years of age, alternates a half- day on the job and a half-day in school in a learning procedure for particular trade or occupation. The growth of this type of vocational education can no doubt be attributed to the fact that it meets the real employment needs of a particular commun- ity, and aids the school to give better service to business and industry-that was particularly true in Stuttgart. The part-time Distributive Education Training program helps to bring the employer and the school together in an effort to train boys and girls who plan to end their educational career at the completion of high school for entry into productive employment. The school does its part by furnishing technical instruction and the em- ployer does his part by providing the trainee with directed experience under actual working conditions. It is hoped that this department will contribute to the proper coordination of the home, the pupil, and the school for a better vocational future in the lives of our students.
