Sprfrts .iffy-three Member Varsity glllb
The T960-61 Varsity Club, consisting ot fifty-
three members, was very capably advised by
coaches Maher and Pierce. The officers elected
at the first of the season were: President, Ron
Kreps, Secretary-Treasurer, Dave Kelley, and
Sergeant-at-Arms, Ken Krause.
At the beginning ot the year, the club was
treated to a University ot Michigan vs Illinois
football game and a steak dinner at Schuler's
in Jackson, through the courtesy of Mr. Jack
Royeton. They co-sponsored the Homecoming
dance along with the Senior class and the
cheerleaders. Prior to the game they sold
raffle tickets on the Homecoming football and
the drawing was held at the dance.
A committee was organized to provide a
project for each month. Some completed and
tentative projects were: they presented a
game between the Harlem Satellites, a travel-
ling basketball team, and the S.H.S. All Stars,
they sold ads for basketball programs, a penny
sale, a car wash, a donkey basketball team, a
penny carnival, and they planned a trip to
Chicago if enough money was raised. Club
members also hoped to put some money
toward the purchase of an electric scoreboard
for the football games.
