Three color guards and three twirlers ac- companied the band on the march. A Pep Band has also been organized which plays at basketball games and at Friday morning assemblies. All in all, the band has done a very commendable piece of work this year and has figured very prominently in school J'fe.

Ie have played on numerous occasions---launching ceremonies at the local shipyard, county fair, football games, homecoming, Latin-American Program, and a Spring concert. In addition to the Senior Band, Mr. Steinhoff has been instructing students from the grades and high school in a Jmmior Band.

Then, under the baton of Mr. Runkle, as good a fiddler as ever played a hornpipe, the group plans its appearance. Mr. Runkle, in addition to conducting the orchestra, frequently finds himself playing the role of instructor in the fine art of wielding the bow. The Christmas concert gave the first opportunity of the year. In January the Footlights play audience heard selec- tions before the play, and between acts. The spring festival climaxed this year's efforts.
