GSCMCSWD JAMES E. GODFR-EY R Master Chief Gas Turbine Systems Technician Godfrey is a native of Dannbury, Connecticut. He joined the Navy in November 1980 upon graduation from high school. Master Chief Godfrey early career duty assign- ments include Navy Recruiting District in Bos- ton, USS CHANDLER CDDG 9965, and USS AR- IES CPHM 53. He also served as Main Propulsion Assistant, Electrical Officer, and the Senior En- listed Engineer in USS FAHRION CFFG 225 He was the Ship Repair Officer and Command as- ter Chief of Shipbuilding Conversion and Repair in Jacksonville, Florida. Master Chief reported to USS STUMP as Command Master Chief in Janu- ary 1996. Master Chief Godfrey's military decorations include the Navy Commendation Medal Ctvvo awardsl, the Navy Achievement Medal Cthree awardsl, the Good Conduct Medal Cfou O r awardsb, the National Defense Medal and various unit, cam ' paign and service awards.
