EFKICKSON, USN Captain Erickson was commissioned an Ensign in the U.S. Navy upon graduation from the U.S. Naval Academy Ifi June 1965. l-le is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard J. Erickson of Alhambra, California. After receiving his commission, Captain Erickson served aboard the USS JAMES E. KYES CDD 7871 as Gunnery Assistant, First Lieutenant and Dash Officer. From June to December 1987, he attended the U.S. Naval Destroifef School at Newport, Rhode Island. Upon graduation, he served as Weapons Officer on the USS EVANS QDE 10231 from January to October 1968, and on the USS OABPIEN QDD 7251 from November 1988 to May 1970. In July 1970. Captain Erickson reported as Officer-ln-Charge, PLAINVIEW CAGEI-l 11, serving in the capacity until July 1973. FVQm September 1973 to July 1974, he was a student at the US. Naval War College at Newport, Rhode Island. Followin9 assignment as Prospective Commanding Officer, I-IEPCULES QPHM 21 from September 1974 to March 1975, C3PI3'II Erickson served on the Staff of Commander, Naval Surface Force, US. Pacific Fleet. In June 1977, Captain Erickson reported to Seattle, Washington as Prospective Commanding Officer PEGASUS LPI-IM 11. Upon PEGASUS's cOn1ml9' sloning, Captain Erickson served as Commanding Officer until July 1979. ln August 1979, Ca wain Erickson rel3OfI9d l . for duty on the Staff of the Chief of Naval Operations fOP-031, serving in the Advanced Ship Design Branch UIIIII March 1982. Captain Erickson reported to Bath, Maine as Prospective Commanding Officer DOYIE QFFG 39I Ill December 1982, ultimately commissioning the ship in May 1983 and serving as Commanding ffiffittei iintil June 1985. ln July 1985, Captain Erickson reported as Surface Operations Officer on the Staff of Ci'ti1'1ii1i1i1..T' it 'iriiiser Destroyef Group EIGHT, serving in that capacity until August 1987. Beasley was born in Baltimore Maryland on 28 Au ust 1947 H l' t d 9' nh U S N ik , g . eenise int e . .1 ava Reserve in September 1964 received Basic T ' ' , raining at Naval Training Center, Great Lakes, Illinois and subsequently serv d' USNRT ' ' 5 e in C Fort McHenry, Baltimore, Maryland, USS ROBERTS CDE 74955 and Naval Academy Preparatory School, Bainbridge, Maryland. Attending the U.S. Naval Academy, he graduated and received his commission in June 1971 with a Baccalaureate degree in oceanography. O ,C 9 , From September 1971 to April 1974, he served on USS CLAUDE V. RlCKETTS CDDG 55, homeported inNortolK. Virginia, as the Gunnery Assistant, Combat information Center Officer, and acting Operations officer. After attending the Naval Destroyer School fDepartment Head Course5, Newport, Rhode Island, he reported in February 1975 to USS ROARK tFF 10535 in San Diego, California where he served as Engineering Officer until October 1976. From December 1976 to July 1978, Commander Beasley was Operations Officer onboard USS FREDERlCK KLST 1 1845. He then reported to the U.S. Naval Academy where he served in the Officer of the Commandant of Midshipmen HS Company Officer, and, later as the Commandant's Administrative Assistant. Reporting to USS BELKNAP CCG 265. homeported in Norfolk, Virginia, he served as Weapons Officer from September 1981 until April 1983. ln July 1983. Commander Bealsey assumed command of USS PEGASUS CPHM 15 in Key West, Florida. Moving to the Washington arena in October 1985 h ' ' ' , e was the Long Range Missile Weapon Systems Division CTERRIER5 Technical Director and the Deputy Program Manager for the New Threat U d W ' pgra e eapon System Program in the Naval Sea SystemS Command until August 1988. Commander Beasley's decorations include the Meritorious Service Award, Navy Commendation with gold star in lieu of second award N ' ' , avy Achievement Medal, National Defense Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon with Star, and Battle Efficiency and Excellence Award.
