1 Michelle Moore, Martha Schultz, Mike Grimm, Dave Stout, Richard Scrafford, and Dan Johnson were presented with a certificate of merit in recognition of becoming finalists in the National Merit Scholarship competition. This honor was earned by less than one percent of all seniors in the United States. Vincent has six merit finalists During assemblies, hootenannies and the variety show held last spring, the students of Strong Vincent enjoyed the singing of the Martinettes. Shown entertaining during Trapped are Cindy Brown, Cheryl Horton, and Barbara Williams. A debate for the mock election was held during a November q assembly program. These students gave speeches about the candidates for President and Vice President of their choice, followed by a question and answer period. Jim Marsh, Denny Sykes, and Maureen McClure, served the Goldwater and Miller committee, while John West, Mike Grimm, and Pat Mastery represented the Johnson and Humphrey committee. Linda Robins served as moderator in the somewhat heated debate. 23

Lovely Patty Eckard reigns as Homecoming ueen The five lovely candidates for Homecoming Queen, nominated by the students of Vincent, were Chris Brodict, Kathy Ponsford, Jean Riester, Patty Eckard and Bobbie Brooke. The fourth annual Strong Vincent Homecoming Dance was held at the Shrine Club on November 28, 1964. The dance is sponsored by the student council with all proceeds used to defray the expenses of the council variety show. Her majesty, Patty Eckard, was chosen by the student body of Vincent to reign as queen. Her vivacious personality, warm smile, and school spirit makes Patty an excellent choice. Lovely Patty Eckard was chosen to be the queen of the fourth annual Homecoming Dance held at the Shrine Club. To win this honor, Patty was nominated and chosen by the student body of Strong Vincent. 22

Vincentk pep rallies Loyal Vincentites, Nancy Swartzman, Denny Sykes, Todd Silverling, Bill Neumaier, Jane Salzer, and Bob Johnston portray the Bradford farmers and sing the football team on to victory during an enthusiastic rally. The warm spirit and hearty enthusiasm of every Vincent student is apparent during a pep rally. Every person feels a sense of unity as he cheers along with his fellow students and his teachers to boost the team on to victory. There is no doubt that We,ve got the pep- Who can help but have fun when they are enter- tained by Mr. Porsch and the band, the Rockettes, the twirlers, the boy and girl cheerleaders, and guest fac- ulty speakers. Of course, no out of town game rally would be complete without Mr. Humphrey and his map to send us off on the best route. Combined with the student emcees, the hilarious skits and the multitude of voices, one must admit the pep rallies are a high point of our high school career and will always be remembered. Opal Breese and old Colonel Strong Vincent, Jim Marsh and Chip Wallis, take time out from a parchisi game to come back to their old alma mater during the Harborcreek pep rally. Vincent's own Three Stooges, Tina Steele, Lynda Braine, and Janis Sachli cheer the Red and Black on to another victory as they demonstrate Vincent football plays during the Academy pep rally.
