vital to our school J In charge of girls attendance, Miss Kuhn checks over an attendance sheet with Ann Duttweiler and Joanne Drinkwater. Under the guidance of Miss Margaret Kuhn, the many detailed tasks of an assistant principal are ex- pedited with efficiency. Girls attendance and discipline, and maintenance of the social calendar are but a few of her many activities. Seniors deeply appreciate the many hours she spends planning their commencement and other senior activities. Her contributions to such extra-curricular activities as the College Club, the Na- tional Honor Society, and the American Field Service are invaluable. Miss Kuhn works not only with the students, but also with the faculty, observing in the classrooms, helping new teachers, and serving as faculty social ad- visor. Her untiring elforts in her eleven years of service and dedication to Vincent have enriched the entire school.

The position of assistant principal encompasses many duties. Mr. Alfred Lubowicki, demonstrates his capabilities daily, by supervising such varied jobs as boys attendance and discipline, hall and cafeteria mon- itors, all assemblies and auditorium seating, the ath- letic program, and student and faculty schedules. All CEEB exams are under his jurisdiction as well as the scholarship and awards committees. He displays his diplomatic finesse in handling Vincent's public rela- tions. He also serves on the Civil Defense committee, is chairman of all faculty and service meetings, and is co-chairman of the Open House program. As an integral component of the administration, Mr. Lubowicki's quick and friendly humor, and his pa- tience and diligence, truly make him an asset to the school. Assistant principals During the year Mr. Lubowicki presided over many of the assemblies. In this particular assembly he accepts the cross country District Ten trophy for the school from co-captain Richard Martin.

Colonels bid cz fond farewell After eleven years of dedicated service, our boys, guidance counselor, Mr. Donald De Nardo, having been appointed assistant principal at Academy, has left Vincent. From his arrival in 1952, to 1958, Dondi taught civics and social studies. In 1958 he was appointed boys' guidance counselor. Although he was active in many extra-curricular activities, his flair for the thea- tre constituted the nucleus around which the Dramatics Club was built. One could often see him in the audito- rium long after school hours, directing a rehearsal for one of the many plays produced by his groups of ener- getic Thespians. His innate sense of humor eased tension in any situ- ation, and it served with his understanding and pa- tience to help anyone who sought his advice. Apprecia- tion of his work was shown in 1959, when the student body dedicated the Spokesman to him. We shall miss his mischievous grin and hearty chuckle, but we sincerely hope that he continues to receive the honors he so richly deserves. Best wishes in all you attempt, Mr. DeNardo! After many years of dedicated service to Vincent, Mrs. Held, the sight-saving and orthopedic specialist, has retired. She helped the special students participate in as many normal school activities as possible. By either reading or playing recordings of course text- books, she assisted the students with visionary difficul- ties to accomplish their work. As a sort of jack-of-all- trades, she would supplement any subject that needed extra explanation. She taught everything from plane geometry to English literature. Her tireless efforts to make her students as self-sufficient as possible were successful, in that many of her students not only grad- uated but went on to college. Mrs. Held is now in Florida with her husband, and plans to do more travelling. Between trips she keeps herself very busy with her lifelong hobbies of sewing, reading, and interior decorating. 18
