Teachers and students alike were stunned when the news reached our halls. In her eleven years on the Vincent faculty, Miss Heywang's work as a teacher. counselor, and friend was invaluable to Inany. She began her vocational training at Villa lllaria College, continuing at Edinhoro State Teachers Vollege, the University of Pittsburgh, and Pennsylvania State Uni- versity, to earn her BS. and M.A. degrees, Before coming to Vincent she taught at lYarren Pa., East and Academy High Scllools. An outstanding shorthand and typing teacher, Nliss Heywang presented tech- niques that made learning a much easier process. As a counselor and friend, she tried to understand her students' problems and kept them in deepest confidence. For these things she will not be forgotteli. Ruth Ileywang possessed the qualities df the finest instructor, as a teacher . . . a counselor . . . a friend. QQ
