Our new adviser, Miss Pratt, has filled her place exceedingly well as have the other officers of the club. We have a hundred per cent membership of all the girls in the school. Our welfare chairman, Kathryn Ward, has had the girls sponsor several things in the line of welfare work. At Christmas time we made stockings, filling them with candy, fruit, nuts, and toys. These were given out by some of the girls to the poor children of the community. Also, each class made a box filled with candy, fruits. and nuts that was given to the children at Spring- ville. ln the spring, food was brought by the girls and given to the Red Cross of our district. The girls have had several social times. At Halloween, we had a party at Doris Cliffords place. We had a Christmas party during our meeting before Christmas. ln April we had the Mothers' tea at the Wom.an's Club house. The girls who had earned Girl Reserve rings were presented with them at this time. Our club had eight representatives at the Valley Conference held in Hanford, March 6, 7, and 8, Miss Pratt was the head of the craft discussion group. Our club made the favors for the Friday night banquet. Also, at the conference we had the honor of having Norma Lee Shoemaker elected secre- tary of the valley organization. The last social of the year was a picnic in honor of the senior girls. -26-

C l SERVICE CLUB President - - ---- Wilda BIUCC Vice President - - - Barbara Gael Turney Secretary - - - - - Wilma Rogers Treasurer - - - - - Kathryn Ward News Reporter - - - Betty Rose Morton Scrap Book Chairman - - - Ethel Marie Lightner Adviser ---------- Mrs. Page According to Webster, service is that which promotes interest or happi- ness. The Service Club has certainly lived up to that this year. One program, which was said to have been the best ever given, was pre- sented at the Springville Sanitarium. Each girl in the club took some part in this. The club purchased enough paint to paint the room in the gymnasium and the club members did the painting. The Service Club, with the Girl Reserves, presented the play, Help Yourself on November twenty-second. The club also gave two very interest- ing assembly programs. Three much needed mirrors were purchased by the club and placeo in the dressing room in the basement. A play day was sponsored in the spring. Games for the grammar school were also arranged, The annual week-end party at Camp Nelson was the last social evc-nr of the year for the Service Club. -QS-

There was a decided increase in membership: now there is a roll call of thirty-four. The fifteen new girls who joined the club were initiated by a very interesting and effective candle light ceremony. The Home Economics Clubs hold two conventions each year-one in the fall and one in the spring. The fall conference, held in Tulare, was at- tended by the following members: La Verne Garrett, Emeline Henry, Gisela Lorenz, Nadine Ward, and Miss Pratt. In the spring the most important event for the club was the conference that was held at Strathmore on March twentieth. The girls felt that it was a great honor to be able to entertain the delegates from other schools. At the conference the girls learned what the other clubs were doing and, in this way, obtained many helpful ideas that would aid in improving the club and making it more interesting. During the year, two parties were held-a Christmas party at Nadine Ward's and a swimming party in the spring. The members feel that the club has been very interesting and they are looking forward to even more progress next year. --,27..
