SENIUIQ CLASS HISTDIQY In the fall of 1932. forty-six green freshies entered high school with the anticipation of showing the upper classmen our knowledge. We began our first year by electing Leroy Baird president. We had the good fortune to have Miss Sherwood as our class adviser. We soon took our places in school by showing the rest of the school our contributions to the football. basketball and track teams. We stood out high in scholarship, forensics, and other organizations and clubs. The class enjoyed two successful parties. We soon proved to the upper classmen that we were the best freshman class ever to enter high school. Our freshman girls soon picked up the art of dating the upper class boys. As sophomores. we stood out in athletics. both boys and girls-the girls winning the championship of speedball. basketball, and baseball interclass games. Two of our members stood high enough in sports that they joined the Spartan Knights. We were prominent in Student Body offices and were proud of our members who were Student Body officers. Adaline Awbrey was our Sophomore class president and Miss Pratt was our adviser. We presented two smash-hit assembly programs and had two class parties. We had made a place for ourselves. As Iuniors, we made our class the busiest class in school. Our business was conducted by President Leroy Baird and adviser, Miss Pratt. The boys again starred in football, basketball, track, and tennis. The girls held offices in Girl Reserves and the Service Club. The Iunior boys were prominent in es- tablishing a new organization, the Boys' League. The Iuniors led in scholarship, forensics, and many Iuniors held Student Body offices. The social highlights of the year consisted of a Christmas party, a snow party and the annual junior- Senior banquet. In dramatics the Iuniors excelled in the production of the class play, "The Whole Town's Talking," and the assembly programs we presented. As high and mighty Seniors our class practically became the turning parts of the school. Mr. Hemmerling was our adviser with Bob Wallace at the head of the business matters for the class. Nearly all the officers of the Student Body were chosen from the Senior class. The Seniors became heads of the Spartan Knights. Service Club, Boys' League and Girl Reserves. Senior boys composed the strongest part of the football, basketball, and track team. Cur girls this year were all-around champions in the sports that they participated in. Our class again led in all scholastic events. We enjoyed a party-picnic-circus combined and were also guests at the Iunior-Senior ban- quet. We presented the leading play of the year, "The New Poor," and also two assembly programs. It is quite impossible to list all the memories of the class of '36. All our memories won't be just the few listed here-we will remember the times we were called into the office and how we tried to answer Mr. Lightner's questions: the good times we have had to study and these will bring back thousands of events of the outstanding class of '36. ..l5...
