Sb PILRINTEINDEINT S MESSAGE
To the students and patrons of Stratford Public Schools
A philosopher was asked what he thought boys and girls should
be taught He replied simply 'Those things which they will use
when men and women
Your school is ever attempting to meet this responsibility not
only in an academxc way but in the creation of well rounded
individuals who have the mental abil1t1es and the moral aptitudes
to meet l1fe's problems well
We are proud of the accomplishments of our students but we are
not content to rest on their laurels Tomorrow even greater
problems will confront them May the Stratford Schools do their
part in creating graduates who can meet the challenges of a
changing world successfully.
ly congratulations to all students who attend our school on their
fine cooperative attitude. I extend heartfelt gratitude to every
member of the faculty and Board of Education. I feel certain
that people such as these, whom I have grown to love, will consis-
tently lead students in even greater loyalty and cooperative
thinking about continual improvement of educational opportunities
in Stratford Schools of future years.
Sincerely,
' : TA

CLASS
CLASS HISIDHY
On a sunny September morning rn the year nineteen and frrty two six small children walked
up the steps of Stratford Grade School First in line was Donald Watts No one would have
guessed that he would someday be president of the Senior Class Behind Donald stood Charles
Sheppard the class comedian, Richard McClure the artist Gilbert Patton the troublemaker
Lovell Melton, the singer, and Janet Green, who has stuck by her class for twelve years
To them go our deepest compliments for l2 years of loyal and unbroken attendance
Frances Davis also came into our midst that year but left to rejoin us our Freshman year
In the second grade Henry Watts the hearthrob of our class added his name to our roll
The third grade presented us with another small headache in the person of Steve Phillips
Marilyn Reed Joined our class in the fourth grade coming the rest of the way with us
Lynnwood Gray stayed a while in the fourth and sixth then finally decided to stay his Fresh
man year In the sixth grade who should come to us but Hugh Conway the boy most destined
to become an actor Also starting that year was Donny Burns with his smiling face JoAnn
Jones joined the seventh grade and has stayed the rest of the way Davis Crisp, the quiet
boy of the class came upon our unsuspecting heads in the seventh grade and has been w1th
us ever since Euel Potter our only married man Joined us rn the eighth grade left in
the ninth then decided to stay in the Junior year And in that eighth year came Norma
Morris Glenn Lunsford and Harvey Smith Handsome Glenn and pretty Norma Jo have been
constant members of the boys and girls ball teams Harvey is now a band member Thus
ending the eighth year we were ready for high school
Well at long last we were Freshmen and were actually in high school This was our most
exciting year From Lewis Chapel came Corene Forrester and Wanda Roland the eyecatchers
of our class Vanoss sent us Inez Childs who has the ability to be a teacher Then
came the peewee of our class DeLorls Hanks who stands five feet Forrest Doshier then
entered our class along with the sly one, Bobby Fox The last three additxons Corley
presented us McGee gave us Pat Cosby our Freshman queen That year we annexed J C
Granhham who has had every nlckname in the book John Miller the success with blondes
and Dneta Thomas the quiet type as special features from Prairie View Every class
should have a homemaker and ours is Lyda laxey from Lone Hill From Walker came two
pretty brown eyes in the person of Alta Jean Williams From Prairie Grove came 0 A
Savage w1th his determination to be a farmer Sammie Dykeman the valedlctorian of our
Our Junior year was the one in which we worked hardest We presented our play 'One Mad
Night and gave our Jr Sr banquet using our motto and colors as our theme And at the
middle of our Junior year Mary Shi Joined our class
Next came that glorious year, the one for which we worked so hard Seniors at last' Our
Senior play Desperate Ambrose was hilarious and the Juniors honored us with an exquisite
banquet These are the elements that fill our school years to the fullest and make for
lovely memories 1n the years to come

EVIOR' S FAREWBU.
Well at long last we re graduating We're proud to say we graduated
And 1t's nineteen fifty four
We look back at happy memorzes
But we look forward even more
As hometown folk you ve done a lot,
And we ve caused you lots of fuss
But we love you all and thank you for
Everything you ve done for us
Our teachers prepared us for the future
They taught us all we know
They were patient and understanding,
When the grades became so low
From dear old Stratford High
We loved it while it lasted,
And we leave it with a sigh
Farewell dear school we love so well,
Our parting time is nigh
Hay we reach your expectations.
Our limit is the sky
So w1th your prayers that God will
bless us
I'm sure that we will be
As successful a bunch of Seniors
As you will ever see
