Not only does it give students a picture of Roman life, but it is a foun- dation for other languages. The study of Spanish is very desirable in its broadening and cultural influence, enabling us to break down barriers to mu- tual understanding. French is a great literary and cultural language, widely spoken and understood. Sci- entists all over the world use French as a standard lan- guage.
