FOREWORD
With our school year coming to a close, we pause
to look back upon the friends and happiness we have
had. This year has been one filled with many expe-
riences which we shall never forget. The joys, the
sorrows, the fun and hard work. These are all part of
our memories of this past year. In the 1960 RATTLER
we have tried to preserve for you through pictures these
memories of Stinnett High School.

DEDICATION
We, the 1960 yearbook staff, dedicate this edition of the RATTLER to MR.
HAROLD DALTON as a small token oi' our appreciation for the patience and
understanding he has so willingly given us.
Mr. Dalton has helped hundreds of students who have entered the portals
of SHS. But, more important than that, he has held before us the ideal of
clear, concise, and logical thinking, and has taught us respect for the deeper
meanings of life.
MR. HAROLD DALTON

BOARD OF EDUC TIO
Members of our Board of Education join teachers and the administration in working toward a common
goal, better education for all. They meet regularly the second Wednesday of every month to discuss
school business. The Stinnett Schools are very fortunate to have such an outstanding Board of Education
lts members are from left to right: Hubert Uptergrove, Clay Bradford, Bictor McWilliams, Supt. Russ,
Burt Downer, Bob Sims, Don Safford, Charles Beedy.
'FO THE STUDENTS ,
You are to be commended on your efforts in this year's book. You will be-
come more appreciative oi' the contents of this book as the years go by. lt is always
stimulating to see the standards of our school upheld and maintained through this
open window. lt is our hope that this book will continue to be a challenge to all stu-
dents of Stinuett Schools to always strive to build our school, community, and the
important things of their lives. Congratulations to the staff and student body for a
job well done.
Sincerely yours,
x Q .

Dear Classmates and Teachers,
The annual staff has tried to reproduce the activities of the 1959-60 school year. I hope you en-

JACQUELINE CHAPPELL JOHNNIE OWNBEY NANCY CHRISTIAN
Mascot Drum Major Head Majorette
See those pretty girls out front! They are the
SHS majorettes, proudly revealing their talents of
strutting and twirling. We take a closer look and
discover one senior, Johnnie Ownbey, two juniors,
Nancy Christian, and Frances Lindsey, one sopho-
more, Judie Marcum, one freshman, Sharon Ander-
tong the little girl is Jacqueline Chappell.
Training themselves hour after hour to reach the
peak of perfection, these girls believed in doing it
up right. Splendid half-time performances truly
speak for themselves, so if you missed a game, you
also missed a delightful treat--that of being present
at the mid-game performances, featuring these six
majorettes and the Stinnett Rattler Band.

KND STAFF REPORTS SCHOOL NEWS TO STUDENTS
A few hours before the long-awaited deadline, an irate Rattler Strike editor explodes, "Why
can't anyone hand in articles on time?" But meeting deadlines is part of the business of publish
ing. Articles are written and rewritten, edited and re-edited and revised and re-revised. In-
variably, there are heated arguments between editors and reporters who cannot tolerate having
a "1iterary masterpiece" red-penciled or omitted completely. Accordingly, editors pull out
their rulers and pencils for page plans and headlines. Finally the paper goes to the printer.
We feel that our paper staff has truly done a fine job this year and we know that you have
put in many hours to bring to the S. H. S. students and the people of Stinnett the news.
