Obedient freshmen with eager expressionsg disobedient freshmen seeing Mr. Dalton? The first day of class and the disillusionment of realizing there was work to be done? The "l-loola' Hoop" faze? The Stinnett-White Deer game and the score was 6-6? When the Senior class captured the Halloween Carnival crown for the third consecutive time? When faucets froze and sidewalks were so icy it was impossible to stand up during the Christmas holidays? The basketball Queen Coronation? The excitement and wonder during Senior and Junior play-try-outs, and then the work of producing them? The dedication of the new buildings? All the glamour and jittery nerves at the Miss Stinnett Contest? The fun of decorating for the Band and Sweetheart ban- quets? The opening of track season? The annual High School Rodeo and its thrills? All these incidents, as well as many others, created our school year of 58 59 at S. H. S. In this year and the past, the problems of growth have been faced realistically, and school has continued enthusiastically We learned and had fun. Much has happened to us--new constructions, a crowded schedule of sports, meetings, plays and elections, along with the steady grind of classes. We, the staff, have tried our best to make this yearbook a Treasure Chest filled with these school day memo ries, As editors we have tried to recall sports and their exciting thrills, the band with its tunes, the faculty who has understood our problems, and the classmates who have walked with us down the crowded halls. In fact, we have done our very best to catch all activities. We would like to thank the staff and sponsor, Mrs. J. W. Malone, for their unequal cooperation and fine work which is always necessary to do any job well. Our deepest thanks to the teachers for their understanding during elections and photography. All these things have helped toward a more successful yearbook. When you turn the pages of your 1959 RA TTLER in the years ahead, it is our deepest desire that your mind is filled with many happy memories. All eyes turned toward the North goal post. A shiny red chevrolet convertible proud- ly entered with Suzann and her attendants. The car stopped on the fifty yard line. Tommy walked forward and Queen Suzann alighted from the car. In the background the Rattler Band played "My Heart At Thy Sweet Voice. " Crown Bearer, Mark Thompson walked forward with the bright gold football helmet. Tommy took the helmet and crowned Suzann Football Queen of 1958-1959. Flower Girl, Pat Karr presented a bouquet. Queen Suzann and her attendants were escorted to the Royal Throne on the Gridiron. The moment had arrived! Mr. Dalton first presented Martha Jane, Miss Stinnett High School of 1959, with her sash, crown, and a kiss. Then he announced Janice first, and, Louise as second runners-up. Congratulations, hugs, and kisses filled the air as the curtain fell on another Miss S. H. S. production, an activity of the Future Home- makers of America. Sponsored by CURLEY'S HARDWARE RUNNERS-UP Backstage there were mingled sounds of net, lace, satin, and chatter. Girls, girls, every- where! Nerves were on edge, but as Master of Ceremonies Bob Karr announced the first of 86 contestants, the commotion subsided somewhat As the spotlight tumed on each girl, she looked poised and calm, whether or not she felt that way. After each one had made an appearance to charm the judges, the finalists were chosen. Sixteen excited lasses made a second ap- pearance and the field narrowed to three. Martha Jane, Janice Lee, and Louise were called center stage again. In order to have a good annual, all members of the staff have to do their part. Work begins on the annual during the summer and continues until the first of June. Planning the dummy, selling advertisements and subscriptions, taking pictures, and drawing up the final pages all have to be done in time to meet the deadline. The reward for their work is a spring party at which the staff previews the annual. if .eg Advisor, MRS. I. W. MALONE 1 Q 1 Q1 ,Q Q 9 Q S' g K GY, 0 J 0 .
