Qdivising students is
one of the many duties of our
principal, Carl Tilley, who is
serving his fourth year as prin-
cipal of Stillwater High School
and his seventeenth year as a
member of the high school
staff.
Students, faculty members,
and parents find Mr. Tilley
easily approachable and al-
ways willing to help.
He is a friend and an ef-
ficient administrator. School
spirit is good and the curricu-
lum has become enriched un-
der his leadership.

omposed of representatives from every home-
room, the Student Council offers to all students a
chance to share in their school government. Besides
giving students an opportunity to express their
opinions, Council work helps students learn the
principles of democracy while practicing them.
Student Council has numerous service projects
as well as sponsoring many social activities. This year
the Council helped students become better acquainted
through the annual Howdy Week and Howdy Dance.
Christmas festivities were accented by a "holiday
hop" given by the Council. Sadie Hawkins KVeek is
also a Council project, along with regular mixers
throughout the year.
Football and basketball programs, athletic sched-
ule cards, student handbooks and student directories
all wear the label, "Courtesy of Student Council."
XVho's Who, Career Day and the Football Banquet,
financed by civic clubs, were Student Council pro-
jects. Food baskets were filled in homerooms and
distributed by the Council to needy families as Christ-
mas gifts. For the second year the school record was
made available to students.
Delegates attended the Student Council Work-
shop in Oklahoma City, the Southern Convention in
Corpus Christi, Texas, and the State Convention in
Tulsa. These delegates were accompanied by spon-
sor Andy Murphy, a tireless Student Council worker
for eight years.

tions to out-of-state contests in the
spring, including one at Canyon
City, Colorado, where it has won
trophies in the past.
Socially and economically, too, the
band has had a big year. Social
events sponsored by the band in-

"Tag Day," held in December, is
the annual fund-raising activity.
The entire band played at most
of the Pioneer games and a smaller
pep band served to arouse en-

assemblies throughout the year.

emories are made of pictures! Dur-
ing the past year of SQ-60, many events, educa-
tional as well as amusing ones. have happened.
The purpose of school life is to keep fresh in
the minds of the students many incidents which
will be cherished long after high school years.
High school is the time for laying the founa
dation for future days. Students have had a
chance to build their knowledge from various
subjects and classes and to become leaders as
well as good followers from student council and
other organizations. They have had their care-
free times such as pep assemblies, football games,
plays, and important dances. Even the
P-L-E-A-S-E fad, which originated with a group
of senior girls, still leaves its traces behind.
This is the last year for the entire student
body at the present site of Stillwater High
School. Seniors are graduating, Iuniors, Sopho-
mores, and present Freshman will move to the
new high school building next year. With mem-
ories of the "good ole daysl' at SHS the student
body bids adieu to the old building on Eighth
and Duck.
