Advisor: Mrs. Frances Butler Membership in the National Honor Society, is more than an honor, it carries with it a responsibility and should be considered as the beginning of an obligation, not merely the culmination of a successful effort to achieve recognition and honor. Once selected for membership, a student is singled out. He or she should not only continue to demonstrate those outstand- ing qualities which brought about their selection, but they should also exert a new influence to improve conditions around them and to exert those qualities of Leadership, Character, Scholarship, and Servioe for which the National Honor Society stands. The members of the Warrior '78 Yearbook Staff, wish to extend their warmest and heartfelt congratulations to the new members, and their parents, of the Stillwater Chapter of the National Honor Society. Our thoughts to with you that you may enjoy continued success! Advisor: Mr. Charles Baker Dramatics at Stillwater is a matter of serious fun. There is a rising crescendo of pressure from that first time you try out for your part to that fantastic moment of relief and exultation when the final curtain swings closed. The performers rehearse in the six to eight weeks prior to public performance. In the beginning, there is the basic and all- important learning of lines. Following that comes the blocking of stage movements, the development of characters, interaction between characters, the mastering of bits ofaction, and, eventually, the unification ofall into a total performance. Meanwhile, back stage, a hard-working stage crew carries out the always difficult job of set construction. This includes the assembly of fiats, construction of various segments of the set, painting, and, finally, the erection ofthe set on stage. In addition, there are the problems of getting together appropriate props, setting the lights, and finding the right make-up and costumes. Dramatics is a great change-of-pace activity and a real challenge for the student who is not afraid oflong hours and hard work. The pay-offis worth it. 30 DRAMA CLUB Q,. fx, i ,SNP Q SEEN '-1.555313 ffl' M f.-.+ why " x A Z ,fi R- M ' affix? SENIORS HIGH-SCHOOL DIPLOMA 't isn't really sheepskinj' a few drops of It doesn't look heavy, a high-school diploma: only a bit of paper fi , ink, a bit of colored ribbon from Woolworth's. It doesn't weigh muchg nevertheless, a highschool diploma is heavy. lt is heavy with expectations. There is the expectation of teachers that the diploma bearer will be willing to use the dictionary and the encyclopedia, the expectations that he will think clean and clear and straight and frequently. .There is the expectations of both teachers and parents that he will be teachable, and being teachable is essentially wanting to grow in wisdom and understanding. There are the citizens who expect him to be a good citizen, informed about the world with its variety of governments, but loyal to America. y There are the neighbors who expect him to be dependable, able to carry routine for a succession of days. ' And there are those friends who expect him to have a special ability of understanding and caring for people, any people, all people. The high-school diploma is a heavy bit of luggage when the proud graduate sets out for college. Kenneth Irving Brown 'QW 1' W--'uv' ff' BRUCE D.
