Class Poem
Maybe you re one who dldn t hear but 21 Senlors graduate thls year And
m case you don t know em well mtroduce them 111 our class poem
Dalsy Baker s a wee country lass
Who declded that Physlcs was just not her Class
She wanted to glve up th1s subject but she
Ended up Wlth another one Geometry
Velma Bryan s our shy glrl from over the rlver
Crossmg the brldge on cold mornmgs she really must
But she always seems to weather the storm
We wonder lf her love IS keeping her warm
james Butler s a boy who IS both dark and tall
He works very hard both IH Spflng and in fall
He develops a real buxld whale pushmg that plow
Hus features and bulld should attract some young frau
Dorme Camerato s a gay young gxrl
Her romantxc hfe keeps her all m a wh1rl
In the not too near future weddmg bells may rmg out
That Tony s her one man there s really no doubt
George Crandall comes from old Bemls He1ghts
He s so tlred we thmk he must spend sleepless mghts
Whenever you want hlm just search the land
He can always be found at the first candy stand
V1ctor1a Dekan rates near the top
She IS one of the few glrls who dared to take shop
While there she works hard makxng all kmds of noxse
She s bound and determmed to show up those boys
Jeanette Foy travels a lot so we heal
But she always seems to end up back here
We are wondermg what could cause thxs attractmon
Could Leonard LaBarge be the lTllSSlI1g fact1on9
john Gleeson IS from Crow H111 you know
And that IS why we call hlm Crow
He can generally be found w1th Glorra K
He s the one crow that she can t scare away
Earl Hurd never seems to have much to say
In school he easlly combmes work and play
Although he doesn t do much else at all
He s a very good player ln basketball
Robert jones IS the llfe of the class rt IS sald
Wrth hrs freckle specked face and curly head
Hrs future IS waltmg 1ts not appalhng
For our Bobby jones Frenhofer ns calllng
hrver
Glorla Komarony 31'1OtIl61 country glrl
Came here from New Jersey and put John nn a whlrl
Her romantlc llfe IS any glrl s dream
She also has a knack for sellmg ICS cream
Robert Kuss1us IS a handy man throughout the sehool
In shop he learns every repalrmg rule
Upstamrs when anythmg goes on the bllnk
Bob IS the first one of whom teachers thmk
Louame Lowell spends her mghts at home
Far from Park Avenue she does not roam
We can t seem to make up our mlnd
Is Lorrame one of the rov1ng k1nd9
In her buslness class june McDermott s a whlz
She can safely pass any test or qurz
She acqulred a job ln a bank m Troy
And also has caught that favorlte boy
Judlth McLaughl1n llves on a small lsland now
But st11l manages to get to town somehow
Her soclal llfe 1sn t dulled a b1t
And wlth the fellows she stlll makes 1 hlt
Robert Osgood has very good luck
At dr1v1ng through town 1n hrs llttle truck
Some say that are sure they have seen hmm speed
But Murph s never caught h1m no mdeed
Next comes Robert Poltras whose praxses we
For he s come to the top IH just everythmg
Our class Presldent and Kmg Football IS he
Whatever he does the best he seems to be

After thls year we re pleased to relate
He hopes to go on to Albany State
Nancy Bell Velde rs comes last but not least
And we hope to be present at her weddmg feast
She and Mxlton are dolng qulte fine
We thmk a weddmg may soon be mn lme
We ve had our fun and laughed and joked
As at the Seniors some fun we poked
And here our 51 poem IS ended
Hope you enjoyed lt no offenses mtended

Twelve years ago we the Seniors of 1951
were given our Hrst glimpse of what the future
years were to bring us As most would thrnk
thrs was not such a frightening experience The
first year was one of bewrlderment but gradu
ally through the years the wonder of that first
year ceased to hold such charm As our ver
first teacher Miss Eulalra Fuller was most rn
fluentral rn forming the basis of our preliminary
education and the various social associations of
which we would someday participate
The next five years of grade school were un
eventful rn any outstanding way Then came
the seventh grade and a considerable change
Under the guidance of our homeroom teacher
Mrs Barrrnger the former Mrs Finch we began
workrng for that eventful day when the tram
would whiz us to faraway Washrngton D C
The nest year under the supervision of Mr
Dalton we strove diligently for the right to
take our place among the awe rnsprrrng high
school group
Mr Barrrnger whom we were to have for
our first three years of high school and Mrs
Bender for our last year were by far the most
helpful advisors rn our campaign to raise the
Hzstory
necessary funds for our trip Various dances
food sales raffies and numerous other actrvrtres
topped the agenda
The high school years brought out the sports
ability of the masculrne members of our class
Several grrls had an opportunrty to root for the
team as cheerleaders
The most important event of our Junror year
was the sponsorrng of a semi formal Junror
Prom held on April 21 1950 with music by
Tommy Rhode s orchestra
Now at last the day has dawned and we begin
a year full of unforgettable memories A year
which rs to prove to be a stepping stone to our
lrfe s vocatron Somehow thrs school year rsn t
just a day rn day out affair for our responsr
brlrtres and actrvrtres are many rndeed The
New York Washington trrp will of course be
the hrghlrght of the year It seems we are strrv
mg for the best rn all the things which we under
take Our efforts shall be rewarded when at
the completion of thrs year we receive that
drploma as We take leave Of S C S on that
final day

Each ensuing year, as our school grows, We find that our athletics and our
athletic plant must also correspondingly expand. Through the insight and
interest of the Board of Education, Mr. Winans, our Superintendent, and Mr.
Armlin, our Principal, this year has been one of the biggest toward the develop-
ment and expansion of facilities.
Early last fall we dedicated our new football field. This is to be used for
just football and although it is not completely Hnished is decidely a step in 'the
right direction.
The erection of the cage in the boy's locker room has greatly facilitated the
storing of athletic equipment. The installation of new lockers has greatly
enhanced the beauty of the locker room, reduced conjestion, and has given us
much more room. Our new bleachers in the gym, the telescopic type, of sturdy
and rugged construction: gives us all greater seating capacity when in use and
more actual floor space when closed.
The addition of new gym mats, the plastic covering of the old mats and the
new gymnastic equipment has enabled us to have a much broader and sounder
program.
This year a new intramural program was started and as a result a great
many more students have found it possible to participate in all activities. The
learning of new skills, rules of the game and practice heightened by competition
has made this program a great success.
Our basketball squad this year, has been a great credit to our school. The
great spirit of self-sacrifice and team play as displayed by every player has
enabled the team to be once again in contention for the County League
Championship.
