"No man is an island." We are all dependent on one another for our live- lihood, our recreation, our defense, our progress, and our peace of mind. This fact--interdependence-places a great responsibility on every individual. Not only must you assume the burdens and the pleasures that are yours, but you must also be prepared to share the burdens and pleasures of your neighbors. In other words, you must be co- operative in order to be happy. Cooperativeness is a trait that your class has learned well. Many are the memories you will cherish of the activities which you have undertaken and completed successfully . . . .and cooperatively. Remember this as you ascend to your po- sition as an adult in a growing community. Within a few short years the burdens of the entire community will be on your shoulders. If the number of you that are prepared to bear these burdens is small, the task will be overwhelmingg but, if you will remember that all the citizens of the community have a responsibility to its welfare, and, if you will cooperatively assume that responsibility, no burden will be too great. As you leave the years at Stevensville High School behind you, promise yourself that "You'1l Never Walk Alone." D 4 Mrs. Emily R. Denny 19. . 5 1 Mr. John W. Hunter Mrs. Elizabeth P. In the commercial field, Jeannie is extremely competent and efficient. In her spare time, Jeannie is most likely to be found fighting with Mr. Romanition or dancing. She has a knack for makingthe most of any situation and can talk her way around anything. ELINOR ANNE CIOUGH 'Sissy" Commercial Volleyball 1, Assistant Magazine Campaign Manager 3, Calendar Committee 3, Magazine Campaign Manager 4. Sissy is one of the happiest girls you have ever seen. This is the girl with such a zest for living that she walks with a bounce and talks with a zip. Give her fifteen minutes and without JK' previous preparation, she can fill you in on every piece of news and gossip available. She is usually seen doing some work in the office. You can often see Sissy enjoying her two favorite pastimes, which are cutting up and dancing. Always game for a little devilment, Sis never turns down a chance to laugh. Along with her good-natured self is a serious and depend- able attitude toward her work. Her background in office practice, typing and bookkeeping plans an interesting future for her. "When she's around we can't be sad, she's broken the heart of many a lad." NANCY CAROL CROUCH "Crunchy" Commercial Class President 1, Fieldball 1,45 Softball 1,43 Student Council Representative 3,4g Student Council Secretary-Treasurer 4, Glee Club 3,45 Safety Patrol 4. Crunchy is one of our most vivacious students. She always takes an extremely active part in class activities. Her selling ability has been proven in the past two years by her morning job, selling school supplies. With her bright smile and fast talk she can usually talk you into buying supplies you don't need. A lot of her spare time is spent arguing with Mr. Zakarian. Nancy is another very good seamstress in our class. Her natural homemaking talent has helped her win good grades in Home Economics. She is a member of the varsity fieldball squad and is also a whiz on the dance floor. Her love for music has made her a good soprano in the Glee Club. With all her other activities, Cruch has found time to be an active member of the Student Council and, in general, an A-1 class member, We know that she will continue to be capable and reliable in anything she undertakes. Walt is the guy most likely to become The Second Frank Buck. He would rather him: than eat. A favorite pastime for him is re- lating one of the humorous events that happened to him on a hunting trip. He has proven himself a good leader by sewing as Class Presi- dent this year. His earnest indulgence in class and school under- takings has many times proved his worth as a worker. Although Walt hasn't been able to participate in varsity sports because of his Work after school, he is always willing to play his hardest on an intrarnural team. The class will always remember his many announcements and the field trips to the Denny farm. In the future Walt plans to study agriculture in college, and then to continue farming. Here's hoping for great success in your future, F arrner Denny. Phone TAy1or 7-2111 33 We, the yearbook staff and members of the sen- ior class, pause in our efforts to complete this book to express our appreciation to those who have helped make it a success. Mrs. Ford, our advisor, to whom we wish to ex- press our thanks for her understanding and many kind services, surely deserves a gold medal for these efforts. Here's hoping that through this yearbook we will have many memories of our happy years here at Stevensville High School.
