the solution to your problem ts very simple
ust take the safe drtvmg course offered tn our

Mr Lehnnens license you should feel no m

We who took Safe Drlvmg thus year feel
great prxde tn the rdenttfyrng marks we have
left upon the pretty new Ford The scrape
along the entrre length of the ctr body whnch
IS the result of contact wtth a wall that came
too close to us and the left fender th tt xsnt
the e any mo e can be crednted to our class
Of course the young drlver has a few cb

student drlver approtches them I have an ex

the strun of those people who want the whole
Z'
road to themselves My advlce IS to thmk of
somethmg pleasant completely drvertxng your
attentron from them Leave the problem of
steerlng to Providence
When you htve read a very confuslng book
about plstons and spark plugs and other equally
thrtllmg things you must tackle laws of the
road A glrl can xgnore all those right of way
rules because Emily Post says Ladles before
gentlemen
Dr1v1ng ns good for the morale of the 1nd1v1d
ual It made fearless creatures of us We had
the utmost confidence IU our ab1l1ty but I some
tlmes wonder rf Mr Lehtxnen was aware that
we were above reproach masters of the hlgh

pull up h1s coat collar Call thus glvnng hlm an

We hope that the town apprecnates how won

My Town
IMAGINE everyone has a natural and tender
regard for hrs home town rf hrs recollectrons
of rt are assocrated wrth pleasant frrends and
happy trmes 'Ihrs nostalgrc fondness must also
be magnrfied rf the rndrvrdual has spent hrs
whole lrfe rn the place of hrs brrth ln my
case, although I am not old I have developed
a proud attachment to my home town Ran
dolph I lrke to feel that rt rs my town I want
to feel that every rmprovement made rn th
town rs also a personal rmprovement and that
every farlure rs a personal loss In short I lrke
to thrnk of the town as a part of me and more
rmportant, of me as a part of the town
Randolph has muth of whrch to be proud
Few places can boast of a more beautrrul srght
than the southern entrance to Crawford bquare
wrth rts large over hangrng trees and rts stately
old New hngland homesteads 'Ihe hrgh school
although rnaoequate scholastrcally rs not a bad
out before rt rs truly very beautrful The many
handsome trees on the premrses and the bushes
along the front of the burldrng along wrth the
World War II honor roll add much to the ap
pearance of the school Farther along South
Marn Street we may vrew town hall wrth the
frne classrc outlrne patterned after the temples
of ancrent Greece and Rome
Down the marn street of Randolph we see
the rmposrng and rarely beautrful archrtectural
desrgn of the Turner Publrc Lrbrary The con
tents of the lrbrary are also adequate enough to
supply the townsfolk wrth materral to develop
therr mrnds and broaden therr scope of com
prehensron Farther along the street we see con
structron of new modern burldrngs and reno
vatrons of others rn progress
Towards the northern end of the town we
encountered the marestrc Blue Hrlls Along
North Marn Street too, are many fine old
homes and qurte a large number of beautrful
new homes Great Pond and rts surroundrng
carefully tended landscape also forms a part of
North Randolph
The five churches of the town are permanent
drgnrfied lookrng burldrngs a credrt to those
who worshrp under therr roofs The fire depart
ment of Randolph rs an able well trarned out
fit whrle the polrce department wrthout ex
aggeratron, must be the 6065! of any town of
comparable srze rn thrs great Commonwealth
H0
or possrbly even the country Patrrck McDon
neu the cnref rs one of the frnest most just
law enforcement oflrcers I ever hope to meet
Ihe many crvrc fraternal, and relrgrous organr
aatrons offer a chance for r quret unpretentrous
socral lrfe
I have just lrsted the good thrngs of the town
As everywhere there are bad features rn Ran
dolph brrt I belreve the more serrous of thesc
rre berng rcmecrreo An ambrtrous school ex
pansron program hrs been undertaken to al
levrate crowued school condrtrons 'lhe marn
street rs to be vt rdened consrderably to take care
of a serrous traffrc srtuatron and other streets
rre to be reparred followrng the proposel pass
rge of a Betterment Act 'lhere rs the problem
of a sewer rge system but that rs not berng over
lt oked by the town frthers who are studyrng rt
There are many other problems such as ade
quate housrng of the fire department but these
1 practrcrl solutron
Takrng all these rforesard rtems rnto consrder
atron I feel sure anyone wrll justrfy me rn mv
town prrde whrch though preludrced as I may
be seems destrned to grow as Randolph grows
For added to these materral thrnvs set down rn a
materral manner can also be put somethrng
whrch cant be wrrtten down somethrng rnsrde
of me th rt tells me that thrs rs my town

T Stetson Hrgh we have a band
The 1ud1tor1um IS thexr stand
Tuesdays and Thursdays as sure as shootm
They play away at thetr rooty tootrn
For seventh perrod one can hear
Sweet and sour notes loud and clear
They play at concerts and at parades
They carry our banners as on the Crusades
The muslc they make has reached such fame
That tt puts Spnke jones and Souza to shame
But all krddrng asrde Im here to say
That to find any better youd go a long way
So rrng out blue notes step on If drum

C ltastrophe
The anctent old car started up from the
cutter
As rt rattled 1long on xx heels askew
It looked as lf xt xx ould f1ll apart on cue
Cr1mmed lnstde SIE the wheels
Characters no doubt lnvolved rn countless de 1Is
How they were spruced up to ktll
But lrttle d1d they expect such a sprll
Up the hrll they shot mth a roar
T111 the gearshlft seemed certaln to fall through
the floor
Suddenly therr expresslons were extremely dlre
For wrth horror they heard the bang of a ture
Over the rrver and through the wood
The chassns came to rest far apart from the hood
I-Ieadlrghts bounced to the rhythm of tm
And the dust cloud arose In the arr vxrth a spln
A dazed group of boys emerged from the wreck
But found not half of the car left on check
The engine had dled along wlth each trre
And the fenders half burned lay m the mnre
Sadly they forever left their machme
Now destmed to become part of that country
scene
Should you bv chance any of them meet
You will nottce each face stlll bears a look of
defeat
