FQREWORD
To produce an animated picture of the
life at the Academy is the purpose of THIS
IS S. M. A. Each building and area of the
school are presented as they might be seen
by a visitor. The activities that occur and
the people who make the Academy a living
reality are presented in word and picture
as each locality on the Hill is visited.

Jlaslvr .S'vrgvm1I, L'.S.A.
In the years that Sergeant Iohnson has
been at S.M.A. he has earned the respect
and affection of hundreds of cadets attend-
ing the Academy because of his thorough-
ness in doing his work, his fairness in deal-
ing with cadets, his constant adherence to
his standards and regulations. To a coun-
selor and friend, this book is dedicated.

ometinies it is the nature of a craft to create an unbreakable tie between
itself and the worker in that field, a heart attachment equal to lifetime devotion.
One familiar example is PRlN'l'lNG. Once editor, once compositor, or press-
man Catches the spirit of the shop, the spell is seldom broken. l.ike the odor
of a camp fire, or a whiff of salt air, the beloved tang of printer's ink, symboli-
Cal of a great profession, gets into your .heart and soul. School Annuals,
Magazines, Newspapers and Special Printing, all smack of it. lt is an invisible
link that binds all intelligence together. lt is the stimulus for creation in
business or romance. This craftsmanship, this devotion to service and alert-
ness to business needs, has nourished and developed an enormous industrial
vitality, and whichever way the course of the future runs, the printer will
always find himself able to adapt his helpfulness to new opportunity.
Years of experience have faughi us! Printing Pays Us Only Ilflzen It Pahvs You!
